Hair loss Empty Hair loss

Post by Pam2509 Tue Aug 20 2013, 09:27

I have a make staffy who has unusually thick hair, he is more fluffy than my other one who has wiry hair, anyway he has started to lose all the hair in his chest, he is almost bald, is this normal? He is not allergic to anything that I know of but I am worried that this is not right? My other one has very very find hair on her chest but its still there and I'm wondering if maybe if us just more noticeable in him as his hair is so thick everywhere else??

Hi & welcome from darcy & me, it's could be harness rub, is it just hair loss? any red or broken skin? I'd say a trip the vet is definitly in order to check what's going on, it could be allergies, it could be lots really, perhaps you could come say hi :- https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/f7-new-member-introductions

Thanks, I do use a harness however I have just changed to an Ezydog quick fit one so this doesn't touch under his chest, I will keep an eye on it!

We had the same thing happen to Rocky, I now only use his harness when traveling in the car. He also has the Ezydog one and the Ezydog collar too. The hair has now grown back on his chest and tummy.

If it gets worse or doesn't start to get better now you've changed the harness I would pop to the vet, just to be sure x
