looking for infos and a breeder for lean/athletic/long legged SBTs

Hi guys,

I am 31 years old, from Austria and on the hunt for a SBT.

New to the forums, perhaps someone can help me out with this one:

I wanna get a sbt since I think its the right dog for me- the thing is I really dont like the showtype body.
I stumpled across some pictures of long legged, athletic SBTs (some called them irish SBTs).
Can you guys tell me if there are SBTs with a somewhat adba apbt like look, or are these dogs apbt-crossbreeds that were given that name to make money/ prevent dangerous dog laws?

Another thing that would be interesting for me is, are there any differences characterwise(intelligence/behaviour,etc.)between an apbt and a sbt?

Any help is highly appreciated.

hello there i think it may be a crossbreed you may be after, just remember you will have both of the dogs characteristics to contend with and researching each dog individually is worthwhile good luck in your search. welcome from me and mia

maybe an American bulldog is something to consider.

There is only one type of SBT. Anything else is likely to be a cross breed. That's not to say you won't see ones with long or short legs as just like humans, they can come in all shapes and sizes within the breed standard.

If your looking for a particular type then you are more likely looking at a cross although SBT's are very agile and can be very athletic, there are some good examples of those here on the forum

Welcome. You are looking for a crossbreed. They are impossible to health and behaviour test due to bad breeding which is why they are the ones who attack people.

If apbt are allowed where you are you would be able to find a better bred one than a crossed sbt.

They're cross breeds. My girl looks like an athletic staffie, but I'm pretty sure that she's got some whippet in her. Sounds like it's not an English SBT that you want? They are as standard quite small and stocky. Are you thinking more an American SBT or an American Pit Bull Terrier?

Yes really. Obviously not all crosses attack but i would very much wager that the % of pure bred (and i put emphases responsibly bred) that do the "media hype" attacks is low. Number one rule of breeding is temperament.

APBT are allowed where I live. Anyone happen to own both breeds(SBT and APBT) and can tell me if there are any striking differences regarding the character of these 2 breeds?



I d prefer a adba apbt over an amstaff, amstaffs seem to have very stocky bodys compared with the athletic look of apbts.

I cannt post links in here, but I stumpled across 2 breeders that seem to aim for a adba apbt look with their staffies.
1. Riskys Staffords and 2. Shakka-Staffs , both breeders seem to have really nice dogs.
Whats your guys opinion about them?

I have not heard of those breeders. I believe apbt are quite similar to staffs.
