Re: long legged staffy!
Someone at the park mentioned to me that Nala has long legs for a staffy an she definitely isn't a cross. Ive never really noticed it though so Unless she just hasn't grown into them..

Re: long legged staffy!
Up to 16 inches on the legs, some female staffs do have 16 inch to the withers but more than that and it cant be a pure bred and thats by kc standards, my staff is 15 and a half inches at the withers and people think some times shes a male, how old is your dog she might still be stockying out

Re: long legged staffy!
there are staffordshire bull terriers, staffordshire bull terriers and staffordshire bull terriers. anything else is either a BYB trying to justify an over inflated price or someone who doent know there ar** from there elbow. the rest are just crosses.its like me saying i have two woolly siberian staffs lol

She's only 8 1/2 months. I know they tend to grow outwards in the second year but I think sh has already reached what could be her full height based on other staffs we see at the park.Hannah&Michael UK wrote:Up to 16 inches on the legs, some female staffs do have 16 inch to the withers but more than that and it cant be a pure bred and thats by kc standards, my staff is 15 and a half inches at the withers and people think some times shes a male, how old is your dog she might still be stockying out

Re: long legged staffy!
can you define a standard human? dogs are the same mate. they will take bits from mum, dad, grandmum and grandad and even further back down the line. you can get a 100% pure staffy that is huge aka arnold schwarzenegger of the dog world but it only means one thing, they dont confirm to the KC breed standard but they are still a staffy no matter what anyone says and def not some kind of offshoot group.Nalabala wrote:She's only 8 1/2 months. Re: long legged staffy!
Yeah so she still has plenty of time and nathan have you ever seen a short legged great dane? Or a short legged german sheppard, or a long legged pomeranian. No you havent, so I dont see why people have the right to call a mongrel a staff, nothing wrong with a mongrel but you shouldnt call a dog that isnt right by standard a pure breed, I agree you can get different head shapes but definitely not on height

Hmmm... My girl has a small head and isn't particularly tall, but she is a Staff, there's no way you would call her anything else (Well, stinky sometimes)
Wait a min... She's nearly a miniature Staffy

Re: long legged staffy!
My girl has what seems like a small head too. Everyone says she's pretty... Not usually the word you would use to describe a dog haha. Maybe that's what makes her legs look long too. She isn't chunky yet. I'm sure she will get there but I don't mind having a mini like you-Ian- wrote:Hmmm... Re: long legged staffy!
Bo is a KC pedigree and is 16" at the shoulder and about 19Kg, so the upper range for the breed. A bloke said the other day that someone in his family had a Staffie that was twice the size. StaffieX yes, Staffie no. There is variation, of course, but nothing of that magnitude.

Re: long legged staffy!
Even "proper" kc registered staffies come in all shapes sizes and height but why obsessing about it I don't know. Thank god we people don't need papers

Re: long legged staffy!
Probably because many people like them. You either buy a kc registered or not so I can't see what difference does it make.

Re: long legged staffy!
Variation in name would suggest the breeders are trying to make more money by saying they aren't just a standard Staff making them seem special in some way.
They do come in all shapes and sizes. My parents staff would definitely not fit KC standards but both his parents are pure breads with papers.

Re: long legged staffy!
The point i was trying to make is that there isnt anything called a long legged staffy, irish, pygmy or whatever. there is only one staffordshire bull terrier. its byb trying to make the pups they are selling sound more exclusive and get more cash that dream up these names. and yes alot have a cross somewhere in the family history but they also try and pass them off as pits as well. Also it only takes a couple of generations of selective breeding to get wildley out of the breed standard, yes they do do that. Some Kennels are working together to breed dogs they think will be more desirable and pull in more cash whilst forgoing the standards. this is another place where the elaborate names are comming from.
And yes i have actually seen a very short KC registerd GSD by the name of sasha. very well muscled as well so no runt, aparently there was one other shorty in the litter a male who is built the same as her but the other 3 were all to standard.

Re: long legged staffy!
Hi from me & Katy Come and introduce yourself here!
https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/f7-new-member-introductions
Katy is 18" to the shoulder & way above breed standard but both parents were staffies!
I might also add that it would be better to change your user name to something other than your email address! I can change it if you can't
