16 weeks and still weeing in the house - help!
Hi all, I'm new to this so bare with me
We have a 16 week old staff and we have been house training for 8 weeks which I know isn't long but my other half is loosing the plot. We will take her outside for 10 minutes minimum and say 'go pee' which sounds mad but she listens to me and she will pee! With him she will so nothing in the garden then come in and pee next to him or behind him even after having been outside.
She won't go out in the rain which by reading some other forum chats is normal for staffs
I'm worried if I don't get some advice and try and train her to stop doing this the other half isn't going to want to keep her - to me she's part of the family - Help please!!

Re: 16 weeks and still weeing in the house - help!
My staff did this for a while, I'd let him out for a wee and tell him wee wee and he would do nothing come inside and wee on the kitchen floor. To stop this I used a detergent that gets rid of the smell off wee so they won't want to go inside, I removed the puppy mats and just kept putting him outside as often as I could. Might help if your partner does more training with the pup. Marley still goes out now in the mornings sometimes and doesn't go, he holds it all night and morning sometimes, pups still young she will get there

Hiya you have to be consistent with the toilet training take dotty out after meals playing and sleeping. Ignore any accidents and wash with soap powder and water they will be less likely to go in the same place twice. As her bladder isnt fully developed you have to take her at regular intervals. Your o.h has to do the same commands so the dog doesnt get confused.

Bless her. It's great if they can start toilet training early on, but there's no reason for her not to become fully toilet trained with time. Remember that she doesn't have full control of her bladder at present also.
As mentioned, take out after play, feeding or sleeping or if she looks like she needs to "go" - she may circle, sniff or position herself. Don't ever tell her off for this - my current foster will not go to the toilet near you or on lead for this reason, and will hold it for hours, making himself uncomfortable for fear of being told off for going. A toilet "command" as you're already doing is best for consistency, so your partner can use the same one - try to use the same positive tone of voice also. I use the stain and odour remover from pets at home for clearing up mess, I've found it to be excellent
Is she also getting regular walks/chances to elminate away from the house?

Have you tried both going out together with you giving the command to see what happens? If it doesn't work, maybe do that but with your OH standing to one side. There maybe some tension coming from him that is blocking her - that can happen incredibly easily and without you even knowing.
But please don't let him even think of rehoming her for this. Puppies can be incredibly frustrating at times but it does all come right, honest.

Bo did that a couple of times when he was very young. Once I stood outside with him for 90 minutes, watching him eat leaves, and literally as soon as we stepped inside he peed on my foot. I found the way to do it was take him outside after every meal, after every drink, after every play and irregardless of that, every 30 minutes tops. I also let him out at 3am and 5:30am for a couple of months, then at 5:30am for three months after that. As a result he only peed in the house half a dozen times, which isn't bad for a pup.
Also, re-reading the OP, it's very possible she isn't going for your OH because he sounds angry. He's probably impatient she's not going and this comes through in his attitude, so it's not surprising she doesn't go. Maybe suggest that when he take her out he remains quiet and see how that works out.

Here is a link that will help.
http://staffy-bull-terrier.com/toilet_training_your_staffie
Also, they don't gain full control of their bladder until about 6 months of age so there may still be an odd accident here or there.
