Other than Staffies what other breeds do you like?
For me, the Bull Terrier, in white.
Others would be the Shar Pei, which I think is an amazing looking dog. Sadly, those very looks have led to health issues.
American Bulldogs seem like good looking dogs, not sure what their nature tends to be?

Re: Other than Staffies what other breeds do you like?
I have a long history with the shepherd breeds. I've had 2 Border Collies, 2 Belgian Shepherds & 2 German Shepherds (plus a GSD x Collie). I still have an appreciation of these breeds, although I doubt I would ever own one now.
Other than that, I'm really stuck on Staffords and Bullies!

There are two round my way, a 10/11 month old boy and a 6/7 month old girl. Both have really sweet temperaments even when Dempsey is going off on one of his "I'm boss!" routines! Whether they'll change as they mature, I don't know.

Re: Other than Staffies what other breeds do you like?
I have a question, I asked it to someone before (not on here), and they did answer, but it was such a complex answer that I was more confused, in the end.
The Staff is considered a pedigree, according to the KC of this country.
Other dogs are also considered pedigrees, even if, at some point in their history, they were literally crossed with other dogs, to secure a desired trait.
So.
(And I don't actually want to nor advocate this)
Let us say you wanted to take the qualities of a staff and an American BT, to create a new breed of dog, altogether.
How would you (or anyone), be able to get it formally recognised, by the KC, as a breed in it's own right?
I am guessing there would need to be several hundred litters of pups, over a long period of time, and that there was consistancy to size, etc?
*Shrugs*

I mentioned that I have always had a thing for Sharpei's, in my OP.
Have to say,, not encountered too many, in my life, less than six.
Anyone hear seen one in the recent past, or know one?

My last dog was a Border Collie ( we said goodbye to her last year at the ripe old age of 16 ) so i'd have to say I have a soft spot for Border Collies

We are both partial to English Bulldogs as we just had one that recently passed. I have also wanted a Rottweiler ever since I was a child. I'm just waiting to be able to move into a big enough house for him to be comfortable in.... as well as permission to adopt him.

Nowadays it's a very difficult thing to do. Firstly, you would have to set up a breed club or society to oversee a breeding programme & draw up an interim breed standard. Then you would have to standardise the new breed so that all the traits that make it that breed are faithfully reproduced. Scrupulous breeding records would have to be kept and you would need to get a lot of people interested in owning/breeding the new breed. Then you would have to prove all of this to the kennel club.
It would take YEARS for the KC to even consider the proposal, and years more for them to actually begin the process of integration with other pedigree dogs.

Never really been my thing, need a LOT of space for one, and not sure what they are like as pets, and with other dogs.
There is one round here which always tries to lunge at my Staff, but he is on a lead, so nothing happens.
Just thinking out loud here, but I have seen a few Staff/Bull Terrier crosses, and I am not sure it works all that well.
I am sure someone will say otherwise, and that's fine, but I don't think crossing a BT with anything really works, probably due to the head of the BT.
A Staff and an American Bulldog would work better, imo.
Maybe someone has even seen such a cross.

What is a ‘type’ of banned dog?
Whether your dog is a banned type depends on what your dog actually looks like, rather than the breed or name by which it is called.
If your dog matches many of the characteristics of a Pit Bull Terrier, it may be treated as a banned type, no matter what type or breed its parents were. (Cross-bred and mongrel dogs can have the characteristics of a Pit Bull Terrier.)
Pit Bull type dogs
Pit Bull types can be called:
Some kinds of American Bulldogs have been found to be Pit Bull types.
Staffordshire Bull Terriers
Staffordshire Bull Terriers are not listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. You are allowed to own this breed of dog.

any crossbreed or unofficial breeds be class a type if it's similar to a ban breed

Most of that should be standard for owners of any dog, imo.
Apart from the muzzle, unless it really is a biter.

I know some use a small 'tattoo', in is, AFAIK, quite non invasive, and may be more visible, if your dog was stolen, for example?

It could have been or I just mistook it for having problems. It seemed to be grunting and gasping, possibly just over excited from being there.
In regards to Canary dogs, they were in the news 10 odd years ago for the wrong reasons in the US, 2 of them killed a woman.

I like most terriers. Although I wouldn't want to own most of them! Not keen on the 'fluffy' ones like the Tibetan Terriers, and I'd be very careful with something like an Airedale. I do like Border Terriers, though - got plenty of guts! My vet has several Borders & he says they're worse than the Bull Breeds!
