Dog/puppy classes Empty Dog/puppy classes

I want to take both dogs to obedience/training classes. I've found 2 locally, but have no idea what to look for in these classes. Mileys will be more the early socialisation and basic training that I want to gain from these classes, but I mainly want to take Casper to firstly build back up s bit of trust in strangers as he wont have them behind him since he was shaven, and also to teach him that it is not acceptable to chase the kids around the garden and jump on their backs! It is the one and only thing I've failed to teach him.
So with this in mind, can anyone give suggestions on what to ask the person running the sessions to help me decide which one of the two places to try?also is there anything that would put you off going there if it was your dog?

Firstly id ask what general experience they have with dogs and training techniques they use. What would put me off is the general attitude they might have with your dog , if the handler shouts at your dog or hamdles the dog roughly.

Ask to attend one of the classes to see what they are all about! That way you can see how they interact with the dogs, the people and you have the time to be able to explain the issues you are having in particular and whether the classes will benefit you.
We have visited a couple and it really helped get a feel for their techniques and attitudes and to see that person in action. Where as with emails and phone calls it's hard to know if you will get along with the trainer.

This is what I would do as well.

We went to a KC good citizen training classand she'd passed the bronze by the time she was 6 month old. She then came into season and then was spayed so we gave her some time off. Unfortunately the silver course hasn't been at convenient times for us, but as soon as we can, she'll be back.
Have you got this type of course in mind?

One has no room on the puppy class at the minute but will let me know when she does. But she has asked to meet casper before her puppy class on Friday for half an hour so she can get an idea of what needs doing with him so I shall see on Friday what I think

Someone that wants to meet your dog and understand who he is and what he needs sounds good. It also sounds good that she's busy!

Have you checked with your vet if they do puppy parties? Ours does, just a couple of evenings where puppies can meet and play and, in Millie's case, cause a riot! It might be a good start while waiting.
