Broken puppy tooth
Looking for a bit of advice guys
I was playing football with my 5 month old puppy when her tooth got stuck on the ball as I tapped it and it broke her canine tooth I feel terrible!
She seemed quite sore after and we can see the root is still in the gum... However we noticed on the opposite side her lower canine is slanted Horizontally and she was quite upset with me touching her mouth...
I will contact the vet first thing in the morning but just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?!
She never seems to settle and fall asleep without being crated... Could a painful mouth be causing this?!
Although at the beginning of the month I last checked and everything looked ok...

Re: Broken puppy tooth
Oh no poor Nyla, that must hurt It's not something I've experience but any pain could keep her from settling I guess but it's good to know that she settles fine in the crate.
How did she get on at the vets ?

Re: Broken puppy tooth
Take her up the vets. She sounds in pain. Bearing in mind she is a puppy still, my Pixee broke her canine tooth on a cup in the fields, it was cracked, took her up the vets, they confirmed it needed taking out as she was in pain. Did it the next day. Although puppy teeth are different, its still best to take her up the vets.

Re: Broken puppy tooth
Could be the tooth was already loose. A trip to the vet is advised to be safe but I wouldn't beat yourself up about it. I've had a number of incidents like this with Suki and she has been fine

Re: Broken puppy tooth
Sorry I had written a reply along with hi!
She was at the vet this morning and it all looks ok. She actually managed to remove the canine including the root and the other side has broken but to keep a close eye on it. She seems quite tender around the area today so plenty of tlc and ice cubes! Thanks for messages!

Re: Broken puppy tooth
She will soon be back to her own self. We all know full well how mouth sores teeth problems can be painful, so to a dog, its the same.
