Broken tooth
Hi all,
Coco, 4 years old has just broken a canine tooth (lower right).
Vet will remove it next week.
I'm concerned that if she breaks the other as it is quite worn we will have REAL SERIOUS issues.
Have any of your babies had a similar thing happen?

Re: Broken tooth
I had a Dobermann who got an abscess under her upper canine tooth (and I have no idea how it happened), and she had it removed. She never missed it and was fine.
I'm sure Coco will be fine too and not miss her tooth - it's just a shame that they have to wait so long for the bad/broken tooth to be removed, it must be so painful.
Don't worry, Coco will feel so much better without the broken tooth

Re: Broken tooth
My English Bull cross came to me with two broken lower canines.
Causes her no issues at all to be honest - Stag bars, Bull bars, bones, Kongs etc are fair game and she can whittle tree branches down to wood shavings in no time, too.
That said, the rest of her teeth are in good condition - she's learned to sit still for the doggy toothbrush (upside down, mind you).

Re: Broken tooth
Ledger only has 1.5 canine teeth left (had one full and two broken when I got him from rescue and one of the broken ones got badly decayed not long after so had that and a back tooth removed) absolutely no issues with eating or chew toys/bones. Dogs trust think he probably chewed on stones at some point in his life to break the teeth but had lost his records now we use a doggy toothpaste he really likes the fingerbrush

Re: Broken tooth
Pixee broke one of her cannine tooth last year on a cup in the playing fields, like you I was somewhat worried, but all reassure me on here she would be fine, and she is. Still chews no problem at all. Its a shame Coco has to wait that long, as I know its painful. Good luck.
