puppy pooping outside but peeing inside

Hi I have a 15 week old staff that poops out side but no matter how long she's out will only pee in the kitchen we have started putting her back out when she squats but she wont go out side when we first got her everything was a challenge because the people we bought her off had crated her we haven't so her first few nights where bad she cried and howled my partner in the finish stayed with her the first night the second night we put clothing in with her the kids idea believe it or not and she settled more to the point of peeing indoors she goes back out when she squats and doesn't do anything just lays there or plays in the mud and a soon as she comes in she does it any ideas on how to get her to do both outside she lets you know she wants out to poop she runs from you to the back door and back again as if signalling you to let her out we still let her out every hour we can't walk her yet as breeders didn't get her jabs done we should be ok to walk her next Monday but that's guna be loads of fun right??

Hmmm... Ok you did the right thing with the clothes in the crate. When she pee's inside what do you clean it up with ? You need a cleaner that will completely remove the smell. Also, and this is the time consuming bit, you'll have to work out when she is likely to go and take her outside before she does and then just wait.

When she eventually goes, loads of praise and treats from you. After a short while the penny will drop I assure you. First walks, now that will be fun

Try a command such as wee wees too say this to her repeatedly when outside.

I use an antibacterial floor cleaner that's safe for animals its a pine fragrance we have tried allsorts of cleaners for the floor she still does it its only in one place as she comes in from outside at the backdoor I will spend the next couple of days righting down what time she does it i think and start putting her out at them times it could help she also knows she's done wrong she's goes to her bed after looking sorry for herself head down ears back yet we have never told her that's where to go when doing something naughty as don't want her thinking her bed is a bad place

You're doing the right thing by not using the bed as punishment. If she's going in the same place then I would think she can still smell where that spot is. Might be worth trying something else (Don't ask me what as I'm a simple man & have no idea )

The timing should work well but expect the odd mishap.

Haha I see will nip to the pet store tomorrow and see if they can recommend something I expect miss haps all the time I'm really surprised how well she's doing has stay and sit down to a tee and has gone from doing her business anywhere to going outside and the kitchen which is better than anywhere I recon all though I haven't praised her for going in the kitchen but I have for going outside we will get there eventually

Can you block off the area entirely, giving her no option but to go elsewhere - hopefully outside? If you can't, the smell I've used previously as a deterrant is Detol. I'd try washing the area thoroughly with a detergent, then a once over with a weak solution of Detol.

Re the knowing she's done wrong, she doesn't. Her reaction is possibly that she's picking up on your disappointment but I don't believe there's any way she can understand that this is 'wrong'. But then I think that's true most of the time, which is also why I believe animals aren't naughty. So don't worry, she's not doing this deliberately knowing it's wrong, she's just doing it because at the moment she believes that's what she should be doing.

Ah ok I will try the detoll see if that works we just say no firmly and she dips her head and her ears go back hense why i think she knows if that make sense i have 2 boys who are little terrors and some of the terms I use may sound as tho it's aimed at a child when righting stuff down sorry I have offended you in anyway just rubbish at wording stuff

Only way I can cut her off completely is if i shut the back door i really don't like doing this as she gets upset she starts crying and yelping and scratching at the door and she starts trembling when its opened again this is with my partner outside with her and she does the same when im outside with her i have no idea why as one of us is always with her I'll clean my floor with detergent and try the Dettol I'm a first time owner so everything is new to me

For cleaning you need a product to remove the enzymes in the urine - cheap biological washing powder diluted 1:4 with warm water is perfect for this - or pets @ home stain and odour remover. Both have worked well when training foster puppies here

Can't really add much but sounds like you are on the right track.

UPDATE:: we have mastered doing both outside no messing in the house what so ever saying wee wees helped Mia in fact it did wonders and cleaning the floor with wash powder solution and the Dettol also helped I cant smell a thing thanks so much one very proud owner of a very clever pup and she even goes into the garden on her own with out getting panicked thanks for all of your advice its worked wonders highly appreciated.

Yaaay well done Bee! See it didn't take that long to master the wee wee's! Dont forget dogs don't have full control of their bladder until at least 6 months so don't worry if an accident does occur. Sounds perfect what your all doing so keep at it and well done!

She's doing fab I'm so pleased with how well she's doing I was quite surprised how quickly she took to it if she has am accident it will be the same as before don't say anything to her and just clean it up she gets loads of praise when she does it outside and so far so good
