Peeing & pooping overnight??
Hi all
Well our little madam has been peeing and pooping overnight again.
I leave a light on in the kitchen, she's walked before bed and let out in the garden right before we go up to bed as well.
She doesnt pee if left alone during the day so whats causing her to do this?
She's fed her dinner at 6 and its gone by 6.15!
She gets lots of attention when DH is back from work. She's got plenty of toys and bones.
She doesnt howl/whine when we put her into the kitchen for the night its just my DH goes down in the morning and there's pee and poop.
The longest she's alone overnight is 8.5 hours.
Any suggestions??
Thanks

Re: Peeing & pooping overnight??
Maybe she's restless at night so her digestive system isn't slowing down the way it should.
Try putting a couple of lavender essential oil on her bedding & a couple of small drops on her chest and forehead just before she goes to bed. if she's asleep, she can't poop!!
The only other thing would be to get up during the night & let her out into the garden.

Have you tried wee pads or giving her someplace she is allowed to go inside? I know alot of people don't like them but it does provide an alternative that makes for easy clean up

We have the same problem - We feed Lola at about 5.30 & stop given her treats & even take her water of a night... shes taken around the garden to do her things before we go to bed & shes shut in the hallway & Kitchen with a little light on - Its not every night but we do get little parcels & puddles sometimes!
I think I might try the lavender oil too - As we have laminate flooring & its starting to bow from her puddles

Re: Peeing & pooping overnight??
Well i know Gabbi is younger, but I get up at 4 hour intervals (started at 3 hour intervals) to let her out, she wees/poos outside straight away and i'm normally back in bed within 5 minutes (I TRY not to play etc)
She's not pee'd nor poo'd in her crate once in the 2 & a bit weeks i've had her
** touches wood **

Yes, it's very different for a young pup because they often don't have full control of their bladder or bowel until they're about 4 - 5 months old.

what Caryll said! Up until Vlad was 4 months, he would be awake at 6ish in the morning busting for a wee... now the lazy sod tries to stay in his bed as long as possible, so if we're having a lie in, so is he!!! I get up and go to let him out and the stubborn boy won't move from his bed!!! It takes me ages to get him to go out! Even as a small pup he was a sleepy boy! I would sometimes have to pick him up to take him out even though he was clearly needing a wee because he'd run straight over to his part of the garden and pee for ages!

How much did you use? You only need a couple of small drops, say, at theback of the bedding.

Re: Peeing & pooping overnight??
i would take her out twice a day for atleast 45mins and dont came back till she has pop and had 3/4 wees
Re: Peeing & pooping overnight??
Hi, I think the best way to avoid this is to crate train as she won't want to mess her bed. My girls both sleep in a cage and will wake me up if they want the loo. I have had dogs in the past who didn't have a cage and they used to have accidents when they were little.
