Re: Night time
Ah the joys of puppy-hood !
Every pup & environment is different so you will need to try a few things and see what works for your family. Personally I put a baby gate across my laundry door, left pup in there with water, toys, treats, blankets. He'd whine during the night and I'd take him outside for toilet just once (although he'd normally been on the laundry floor) to get him in the habit of it, eventually he started jumping the gate and I loved the cuddles so gave up and let him on our bed - now we squeeze to both edges while he spreads out blissfully !

Re: Night time
Where do you want her to sleep in the long run, Dayna? If you don't mind her sleeping with you (lots of us have our dogs on/in the bed), then let her and don't worry about people who say you shouldn't. It is ok if it is ok for you. It is where they are happiest - they are pack animals after all.
If you want her downstairs, then create her a space with a puppy pen (I don't care for crates but some people do use them), and get her used to going in it while you are there and encourage her to sleep there during the day as well. Make it not only comfortable but also interesting. A hot water bottle under a fleece blanket can be comforting for newly separated pups.

Re: Night time
When we got Blue we put him in the room with us in his bed and he cried, my wife said bring him into bed and he relaxed and stop crying, 8 weeks later still in bed and love him, they love cuddles and human contact, it is a personal choice and what suits you, as we speak on lap on sofa sleeping! Love them.

Re: Night time
you have a couple of choices. either just leave him to cry himself to sleep & he'll eventually get used to it (old fashioned, and upsetting), or have him in your room with you. it needn't be on the bed if you don't want it, it could be in his own bed (or crate or pen) by the side of yours, so when he wakes up he knows you're there & you can comfort him by reaching down to stroke him.
if at a later date you want him to sleep elsewhere, you can gradually get him used to the change over a period of days.
