Foot chewing
My girls have had a fairly unsettled year or so and currently I have them for a few days so I can keep an eye on Clova who has been licking and chewing her back paw, taking the skin right off the pad... She has done this a few times before (most recently about a month ago).
They usually live with my partner and his two sons ((human!)teenagers!) after they moved out of my one bed house in Sept 2014. I visit as often as poss and usually get harrassed into a bitches only stroll around the new neighbourhood.
We (Pixi & I) had a year with Clova and the eldest son followed almost exactly a year later (March) by the younger son who brought Pagan with him - so all the pack together, the sisters reunited and a fairly easy (and messy!) harmony...
The boys then moved to their own place in September, and the girls followed a month later (after the garden was dogproofed).
My question is mostly what can I do to ease her discomfort (eg: can i give her asprin or something? please dont all shout in horror! im a cat person )
I've been dipping it in warm salty water - slight concern about dehydration as she rarely drinks water...
Any suggestions on what can be done to avoid it happening again?

Re: Foot chewing
Try cleaning with diluted apple cider vinegar.. you can also use coconut oil (the edible kind) and give piriton tablets in case it's some sort of allergy.

Re: Foot chewing
Thanks... She's on the mend and so far I've managed to stop her chewing it again... I think I'll try the cider vinegar suggestion - better (for her kidneys etc) than salt I'm sure...
This is about the 4th time she's done this so I'd like to try and prevent her doing it again if possible...
Still open for suggestions... And thanx for the comments so far

Re: Foot chewing
Sounds like it may have become a habit, just distract her when you can and Apple cider vinegar and coconut oil is very soothing. Hope she continues to improve xx

Re: Foot chewing
Try rubbing some Coconut Oil into the paws (extra virgin, organic) after every walk. She could be allergic to grass sap.
