Hi,
Ive noticed since we rehomed our beauty that a small section of her back bone is visible (towards the back of her). Is this normal as I would automatically say its not and has worried me a little even though she's not seeming hungry.

I welcome thoughts (we have only had her two weeks)

That is something we have talked about. However, I don't know if its because she's getting too much exercise and not enough high calorie food or whether its just her. Its not an over obvious thing.... more of a feel when stroking her. I'll try and post a picture when I can work our how to do it! Haha

How's her weight? Can you see ribs? If so, it might just be that she's a tad underweight and will probably fill out as she settles down. If it's any help, Chaos is a little on the lean side at the moment (because he too charges around!), and I can just feel his spine. We're just upping his food intake slightly and that should do the trick.

If it's more than that, I would get the vet to check. It may well be nothing but at least it would then put your mind at rest.

Seeing the backbone isn't abnormal espically in a 4 year old. It really depends on personal taste. For some that is overweight but definately not malnourhied and is by far preferable to an overweight dog. Here is a link that should help

The standard thing they tend to say is that you should be able to feel rather than see. If you can't feel they're too chubby and a dog like a Staffy tends to say muscles, in time though you'll probably find she'll fill out a touch with decent food and exercise, although if you're really concerned then see a vet.
