Ergh loki has really tried my last nerve today!!

He's been pulling me so much, when we went on a walk he was lunging to another dog so much I couldn't even get him to sit down so he could go play so I decided to walk on. He twisted my fingers up in the lead so much it hurt.

He was randomly mouthing eli. And won't stop doing it to everyone,

Not listening, and peeing on the floor because he wouldn't go outside, and slipped his collar when I took him out on a lead

I got so frustrated earlier I lost my temper and shouted at him, and tapped him on the bum...it wasn't a smack it wasn't a wallop but I feel horrendous,

I don't know why he is doing it, it's like everything we've taught him has completely gone out the window...it makes me so frustrated.

I bought a halti and he won't even walk with it on. Been taking him out every day with it on. On my own so I can concentrate but he won't even walk it's like I've gotta drag him....ergh..

It's horrible when you get days like that, almost like they know which buttons to push. I tried a similar lead on Katy & she wouldn't move off the floor but since going to classes I use a half check collar which seems to work. Loki is just testing his boundaries but keep it up he will learn what he can & cant do feeling guilty 3198918699

I've never tapped him before!!! I always use positive training....

I'm just so annoyed with myself, I'm gonna take him on a huge walk on Friday on my own and do some training with him!!

It's horrible when you are pushed to far, I'm surprised I haven't throttled Katy some days. I have to shut myself in another room to give myself a timeout if she's playing up. But once I get one of her snuggles I forget all about it. Just keep up with the training & it will be fine Love Struck

Try the half check on him. Have you done any training classes with him? I thought I would be fine training Katy on my own but her pulling was really ruining walks so these classes are really helping.

There is one down the road for me, but as we just paid a £500 vet Bill (grr insurance) we can't afford it right now. It's the out of control lunging that really ruins it for me, I dunno what to do with him, he can't snap himself out of it.

I know all about lunging, Katy is nearly 4 stone & will try & lunge at any dog that is not a personal friend of hers. Try the watch me routine if you spot another dog approaching.

Your lucky Katy usually looks like she wants to kill the other dog, but its only because she is scared. The other owners think she will do their dog some damage but if she was off lead she would just keep away until they left Rolling Eyes

Loki gets funny when other dogs go near eli, but that's because Eli was jumped on a while back and now loki doesn't like it.

What treats do you use when you take him out Freya? We use http://treats2sit4.co.uk/
Try walking him with a treat in your hand and giving him one when he's walking well. If you see another dog get the treat close to his nose until you've past.
It's all about distracting him with something better than he wants to do.
Do you let him meet most of the dogs on your walk?

I used natural chicken treats,

Yeah I do he meets every single dog in the park, he's got a good recall when we get into the park he is off the lead the whole time, (unless I feel the need to put him on, which isn't often) it's when we are walking to the park he is so excited he can't stop himself. We r going for a walk in a bit, I'm tempted to try his halti again.

It happens, as long as you understand that it was frustration and you wouldn't do it again, learn from it and don't beat yourself up. I've tapped Bug twice, in the early days, once when she flew at a man to bite his arm and once when she completely ignored me and went after a lamb. Both times I barely made contact, but given her past and her hand shyness anyway, I felt like the worst human in the world. We use our hands for everything, and we are very primate in our behaviour when frustrated lol! I have since trained MYSELF to walk away when that frustrated, and trained Biscuit not to be such a hot headed little sh*t lol!

Yeah!!! It was just the build up of the whole day!! And it just makes you feel awful. I got accepted to do my vet nursing course and I want to go into rehabilitation and training...and I was like ohhh god what kind of person am I, and I wanna be a trainer and I just acted out of frustration.

Aha he is being a bum face at the moment, off to take him out in a minute!! I might use the training lead instead today

I think I need to focus him on not being able to say hello when he's on the lead, because I don't want to stop him saying hello when he's off the lead...as he loves other dogs and plays really well with them, it's only when he's on the lead he is a pain. Off the lead he has brilliant recall, he knows when enough is enough.

I'm qualified as a trainer hun, also human though. Agree with Pete, he doesn't need to meet every dog. He can have quality playtime but still be calm and balanced. Need to ensure that there are more exciting things in his life than other dogs. Try and get him toy focused if needs be Smile

Just came back from a walk and took some cheese with me, he didn't pull me at all, still was a bit pully when dogs came around but not as much. He had a lovely run around with the usual dogs he sees, but he was actually the best behaved and came back as soon as I called, also was able to stop him bolting over to another dog as well, he was super interested in the cheese!!! He was doing anything for it ahaha

I feel much better now, he's not as bad as I think but I think yesterday got me down.

He now has his head stuck in a cat food box....ahahaa

Have a look at those treats 2 sit 4. With you feeding raw they will be perfect.  Theia  will do almost anything for the ox liver! We snap them up and give her tiny bits.
