Re: sick of hearing of dangerous dog's
You just need to make sure your dog isn't seen as a threat. Obviously you know your dog's not aggressive but there's no accounting for other people's behaviour. Keep your dog under control at all times and don't let him jump on strangers and other dogs and you'll be fine.
The fact is that dogs aren't even taken away for 'looking' like dangerous dogs, they're taken on the basis that someone guesses that they might look like a type of dog that is allegedly more dangerous than another type. And there are no experts in this field because it's not a logical decision and is not based on evidence. Any random plod who's done a course can make a guess about a dog and then be called as an 'expert witness' in court. I've read about cases where the police 'expert witness' admitted that they just chose a few attributes from a list, matched them to the dog in question and made the judgement that 'Hey, this must be a dangerous dog!'. It's got ears and four legs and everything! Almost all attributes in the list can be matched to any dog and only a few need to match to make a case. Not only that but because of how the law is worded, any breed of dog can be a 'pit bull type', even pure breeds with KC paperwork believe it or not. The legislation was written by morons and enforced by morons and whilst thousands of good dogs are imprisoned and killed, people are permitted to breed and abuse animals without any fear of legal comeback.
The way to steer clear of this nonsense is as I said, keep your dog with you and under control, then nobody will have cause to take notice of it and you'll be fine.

It can all get very depressing at times, but as said keep your dog under control and you should be OK
