Whaddya reckon? I can't decide if I need to up her food or not. I usually do the opposite in the summer but she's dropped a little weight again recently!

My first thoughts are that she could do with putting on a little extra weight. But thats my personal opinion Rach.
She is still gorgeous though.

Hm I'm thinking so too! She's always been a little more athletically built, but can get podgy too so it's difficult to find a balance with her sometimes. Think i'll up it a little for a month or so and see how she gets on. She was so fat at xmas lol! Thank you Smile Really pleased with it!! Big Grin

Thanks guys.. good to get varied opinions! I asked my vet last time that we were in, and he was really impressed with how fit she was, I said that I thought that she was under, but he said that it's of his opinion that people are so used to seeing overweight dogs, that anything less looks "skinny."

I prefer her to look toned, but not keen on the "ribby" looks, will try and gain a little, she's 18.5kg at the moment, will get her up to 19 and see how she looks I think!

I think she looks fine from certain angles Ledger can look very thin and his brindle doesn't help but I like him lean. Vets said the same to me that people are just used to seeing overweight dogs in general and showed me the pic reference they have and he sat in the middle she did say she keeps hers about a kg over where Ledger is just so if they get ill they can afford to lose a bit and not get too weak but in reality how often do they get that sick!

I think the dog itself knows. If they are often hungry in that unsettled way and constantly in kitchen or following to to kitchen and not resting as much, they prob need a little bit extra.

This is my experience with raw anyway.

Sometimes on raw rupes needs just a little extra fat.

Hey! Sorry, i've only just noticed all of the replies to this. Bug was 19kg the last time she saw the vet, but I have no idea how old she is, as she was a stray. I would guess about 5/6, I've had her for nearly 3 years and she was an adult when she was picked up, and had already had a fair few litters, though was probably bred from her first season onwards.

I've upped her food a little and she's not looking quite as lean, but still has a decent muscle packet. To be honest, I'm not fussed what she looks like, she just ends up like this from all of the activity that we do. She went on a 4 hour walk yesterday plus at least an hour of swimming on top of that and is on a decent food. But we don't give any supplements or anything like that!

Thank you Inez!!  Love Struck Love Struck Love Struck Her and Vinnie would make such a beautiful couple!!

Her basic meal is Nature Diet - 1 tray in the morning and 3/4 in the evening. Her treats are home made and consist of egg, oily fish and flour. She also gets raw egg a few times a week, marrow bones to chew on once a fortnight and lots of fruit/veg/meat left over from us. A few times a week she will get raw offal such as lamb hearts, kidneys and liver. I give tripe if I can get hold of it! So a rather wide variety really!!
