Hi,was picking up Skye's poop just now and noticed it had a lot off very small white specs like the shape off rice. I googled it and it says could be tapeworms but I wormed my dogs 2 weeks ago with advocate bit the vets didnt tell me that it doesn't cover the common tape worms. So now ill need to get a different kind.
See if it is worms would this be the reason why Skye is a bit skinny even tho I feed her plenty?

Thanks Smile

I'd imagine so! Best to go back to the vet, I used drontal alongside advocate when I used it. Will be different dosing for pups though!

I actually mentioned to them that I think she's to thin coz the burns bag says she needs 140ish grams but I'm feeding her 230 as her ribs are showing.hopefully these tablets will help things. So I think I'll start using drontal along side advocate every 2-3 months

Yep Smile I don't deflea at all personally, Biscuits never had fleas!! Don't like the excess chemicals, though it's easier to prevent than to treat. I use milbemax every 3 months Smile

I was always told by my vet that drontal and advocate work well together to kill all worms and milbemax should be used with frontline if you're fleaing as frontline doesn't contain any wormer. Don't think milbemax covers lungworms, but can lessen the infection, if I remember rightly. Though, I'm not an expert! Best to ask your vet. Milbemax can also cause problems in collie type breeds and is not advised to be taken by them.

I've never had problems with fleas either but there is so many snails in my garden that's why I used advocate for the lung worm. I went to the vets and got drontal and they said so take it with advocate every 3 months. Fingers crossed that will keep the worms away for a while lol

It may be the burns food that is making her thin i had my golden retriever on burns for a year and lost so much weight when i took him to the vets they told me to get him off the food, so i did and he gained weight again.

Yeah drontal makes bis crazy lol!! Haven't had her on milbemax since she was in kennels so going to see what that's like next week.. I'd give it early in the morning and let her run off her energy all day next time lol! Ah that's good.. From experience if they have a worm "plug" it usually appears within 24/36 hours after giving the wormer.. Maybe it wasn't worms after all! At least she's covered now though Smile

Don't know what's happened but Skye's poop is absolutely covered in the small white tape worm egg things again. So I don't know if it didn't work last time or off she's somehow caught them again :/

Defo not because I changed her food the same day I last wormed her and it looks exactly the same as the google pictures, like micro grains off rice. Last time I wormed her with drontal she had the runs within 2 hours so maybe that stopped it working?

Wormers can upset their tummies.. If she's still not putting on weight and it looks like worms again I'd give you vet a call to advise where to go next. The litter that I raised in kennels were wormed with panacur every two weeks until 12 weeks. Not sure how often after the 12 week point though! How old is she now? Did the breeder worm her enough when she was there?

Yeh she was wormed, she was then wormed when I got her at 9 weeks then wormed again at 11 weeks but not for tape worm then she was wormed last week and again today, she's 14 weeks old nearly. She's putting weight on great now, 2kg in the past 3 weeks since changing her food. Some off her stools don't look to have any then the next one is totally covered. If this don't work ill phone the vets.can dogs be over wormed? If not ill give her another pill in a week?

I think they can, we always consulted our vet before giving another wormer whilst in kennels. Best to be cautious whilst she's still so tiny. Hope it clears up soon!

Just an update. After giving the vet a sample they wasn't 100% sure what it was but looks like eggs. I ended up mailing drontal asking if they had something stronger and after a few emails and a photo of Skye's poop lol he said it looks and sound exactly like fly eggs. So I've been googling pictures and yup I'm almost positive that's what's been happening but just weird why the flys are only doing it to Skye's and not brodys. So at least I think I've gotten to the bottom off it Smile

Ohhhh you should have said!! I thought that you were explaining what you had seen when the motions were new, fly eggs are very common! Used to get it all of the time in kennels! On food aswell :/ had to take food out really quickly on hot days or it would be covered in little white dots!
