Advocate vs Milbemax
Just wondered what you use on your dogs?
I really don't like using spot ons.
Been reading up on worm treatments and in particular lung worm.
Seems milbemax is registered to prevent lungworm and billy no mates a good natural flea control.
Advocate just seems so vile!
Love to hear your opinions

Re: Advocate vs Milbemax
Hiya! I use milbemax I used advocate when living in Bristol along with drontal because bis was always coming to kennels with all sorts of mange flying about. But she's never had fleas and I don't like using excess kennels if possible.

Re: Advocate vs Milbemax
I use Advocate as we are always in the woods but hence to say I don't really like using it. On the subject can someone tell me if Advocate covers ticks or do I need a frontline aswell, apparently there is an outbreak of them atm

Re: Advocate vs Milbemax
I don't know of any specific treatment for ticks as I've never looked for one but looked at the Advocate box and it certainly doesn't list them !
I have, however, had experience of this in the north east USA. Again not sure if there is a specific treatment for them but all the people I know out there just do a quick rub over the dog and feel for them. They are very prevalent where I visit !. Once found, they need to be removed completely so that nothing is left attached. This seems to work as far as I know. This also applies to us mere humans too.

Re: Advocate vs Milbemax
I'm also going to order the Billy No Mates. Seems a nice natural supplement added to the food to prevent ticks as well as fleas

From this same site there is a natural wormer that does lungworm too:

Re: Advocate vs Milbemax
Have any of you tried Diatomaceous Earth? I've just ordered some back in Australia that a friend is bringing over for later this month so I can use as a wormer as well as for ticks and fleas (never seen one over here though). I have been adding a tiny bit of garlic to Marquez's food daily and I think thats works against ticks because the other day when I gave him a brush with his new Furminator shedding brush (best money spent on a brush), a tick that looked like it was dying was brushed out. I've got homeopathic heartworm drops as well as HerbaGuard Powder coming too.
Since he started getting seizures, I've been terrified of continuing any chemicals like Frontline and Drontal incase they contributed to or increased his seizures.

Re: Advocate vs Milbemax
It looks good Diane.
I completely agree with you to keep Marquez on natural treatments/remedies if possible.
