Re: Puppy bald patch and food
thanks again
my pup has balding on top of her head, for maybe two weeks.
i checked online two weeks ago and saw exact pictures and some saying it is teething stress....
friday gone i was taking other dog to be groomed which has a built in vet (two sisters ones a vet ones a groomer) and the vet took a hair sample and put it under the microscrope and said it was fine no mites etc......
she gave another dose of advocate which she said does ear mites etc
anyways the top of her seems to be fluffy again, not full hair growth back yet but i can see its filling in. But i noticed a bald patch around her ear today, has anyone seen this before? my dad says its like mange, but the vet never even suggested it could be mange to me.
any ideas?

Re: Puppy bald patch and food
It does sound like demodex as that usually starts on the head but you say she's had a scrape examined already?
Pedigree chum isn't a very good food, this is our list of recommended dry foods but wainwrights and jameswelbeloved are also good at a reasonable price

Re: Puppy bald patch and food
Bane started to go bald on the fronts of his ears but it turned out he was allergic to dust mites, and because the inside of his ears were infected and sore he had hair loss from that.
Does she scratch at all? Or seem bothered with her ears and head?

Re: Puppy bald patch and food
Hi sorry i was looking for this thread
no she has not been scratching her ears. The hair has nearly all grown back now so hopefully the 'advocate' sorted it.
Yes the vet plucked some hair out of her head and in front of me examined it under a microscope and said it was no mites , i am not 100% sure what she said about demodex was it what she has or was it what she hadnt.........soz but from the looks of it its 80% gone now thanks
Thanks for the puppy food link will look over it now and try locate a place to buy here in ireland. Also when would u put them on dry nuts altogether? i am giving her 3/4 nut 1/4 tin pedigree chum puppy at the moment (will change brands once i find good one)
so many questions i have cos i want to do it all right for her and have a champion
thanks again

Re: Puppy bald patch and food
When you change just make sure you do so gradually over a week or two to avoid a an upset stomach I think you can just feed dry (though others with pups with confirm) but you may find she prefers to have a little something mixed with it

Re: Puppy bald patch and food
Just biscuits is fine, just make sure you get a puppy dry food and it will have everything she needs to grow healthy As said before she may not like just the biscuits if she is used to tinned, so you may have to add a little bit of water, sardines, natural yogurt, egg etc to get her more interested.

Re: Puppy bald patch and food
Hii. I feed my 8 week old just dry james wellbeloved and hes fine with just that. I also had a big sample bag of hills science plan. But I just use that as treats rather than food!!
