Walking
Hello everyone
Alfie is great on his lead now and heels for the majority of our walks which makes life so much easier and I can finally enjoy walking him now rather than getting taken for a walk myself!
One thing however is whenever someone walks past with or without a dog, he gets SO excited - he pulls like crazy and tries to drag himself over to them. Is there any way of discouraging this? I know he's only doing it out of excitement and love but I worry as he gets stronger I'm not going to have full control of him when he does it and the person walking past might get the wrong impression from it. Even when I have a treat in my hand he's more interested in the person coming!
Any tips would be greatly appreciated xx

Re: Walking
You may want to try the Watch Me command as people walk past, just try to keep him looking at you instead of getting distracted by anything/anyone else. Use some small treats and/or a squeaky toy if necessary too.

Re: Walking
i used to stand out side the supermarket [oh does the shopping and i take mia to nearby park and meet her outside] people would ask to stroke her
so made sure i had her undercontrol and let people meet her she soon learnt the best way to get a fuss was to sit and wait for them to approach her stopped the jumping up and the overexcitedness but did take a while and a few apologies for wet feet

Re: Walking
As Kathy says the watch me command is great for distraction. A real tasty treat maybe sausage. Let him sniff it then hold the treat on the bridge of your nose. Make him sit and say watch me once peeps have passed treat him straight away. Only if he is good. You may find standing in front of him to take his eyeline off whoever is passing.
