Chewing Dew Claw,,
Hi everyone,
Has anyone had or heard of a cure for a Dew Claw chewing staffy?
In every way he's a good boy.
House trained
He's converted from biscuits to raw food in the last two weeks and his coat is glossy apart from an allergy patch he has,, but to be honest that is improving too..
He just chews on his dew claw, but pulls it really hard like it's annoying him he wants to rip it out.
Runs like the devils on his tail at bath time though lol,,
Anyone have any advise or comments to help me out?

Re: Chewing Dew Claw,,
When Moo hasn't ripped hers out (she always is) I just let her get on with it, if its become a habit you just need to stop them doing it x

It could be a habit thing, what amount of exercise does he have?

Sounds very similar to Flo's toes.
She bites her rear nails as well as the toes which become sore sometimes. I'm wondering if that's as much a habit as anything.
If its just the dew claw then I would keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get sore and try to break the habit.

Re: Chewing Dew Claw,,
He's out for walks quite a lot of the time but i guess that there is no such thing as too much exercise with him,,, he's full of it..
It's only one of his claws, so maybe he's feeling it sore, it is mainly after he's been out,, i'll keep an eye on it and see that i distract him when he does it,, we live in town and there are a lot paths and roads to get to the dog park, could be it just irritates him.
I'll keep an eye on it and thank you

It could have become a habit but if you think it's irritated then cleaning with a little salt water or water with Apple cider vinegar in it may help xx
