Limping Staffy
Hi everyone I have a staffy of 7 months old and she has had a limp that comes and goes in her front left leg. Checked her over and couldn't find anything stuck in her paw or anything. Her elbow seems okay but I'm not sure. I took her to the vet and he said it was just a strain and gave me pain killers and Anitinflamitories but didn't help.
Was wondering if anyone had the same issue?

Re: Limping Staffy
How bad is the limp
Are you able to take a video of it
If it comes and goes,i can only 'guess' its not something serious, and like Kathy said the best thing for her right now is rest, try your best to keep her less active (hard i know) but the more rest she has the better.
You could also try putting a cold cloth agaisnt where you think the area is thats making her limp the helps for sprain or strain iirc

Re: Limping Staffy
Hi Sean and welcome to the forum
If the limp is a recent development then do give the anti-inflams time to work, they will take a few days.
How much exercise have you been giving Lexi? It is so easy to over-exercise a young puppy, they have so much energy! 5 minutes per month age is the rough rule of thumb for puppies under 1 year old, so at 7 months Lexi should have no more than 35 minutes walks twice (maximum 3 times) per day.

Re: Limping Staffy
Well I was reading other things and some people had had similar things and they only seemed to return as the dog learned she/he was getting attention which is kinda what I did too. But it's gone for the moment. A lot of stretching going on. I'll keep ye posted and get a video as soon as she does it again. Hopefully I won't have to. Thanks

Re: Limping Staffy
Maybe she is maybe not, Staffords have a very high pain threshold, keep us updated Hun

Re: Limping Staffy
My Vinny had something similar. He was also given anti--inflams and the vet said it was possible growing pains. I didn't want to risk overdoing it so I rested him for about two weeks and it went away.

Re: Limping Staffy
Letting everyone know the limp went away itself and hasn't comeback since. Might be the tablets I bought for her with glucosamine msm and chondroitin in them.

Re: Limping Staffy
Sasha had the same thing she kept limping on her back right keg especially after sleeping, it was like she had a dead leg after walking around a bit it went. We just restricted her to lead walks and kept her as calm as is possible for a staffie for a couple of weeks, we took her over the park for the first time last weekend but not for long and she seems fine now xx
