limping
so Jellybean has been mildly limping for a week now and it sort of comes and goes, mostly comes back after she's been napping and all curled up for a while. once she's up and moving she's fine. we still walk her but we don't push her and she doesn't resist or anything. not sure what's up, or what we should do about it - haven't called the vet yet because i figured it would work itself out, that maybe she just tweaked a muscle of something.

Re: limping
she looks and behaves very healthy in every other way. my husband stepped on her toe on that right foot accidentally when we were walking her one day, but i don't think he broke anything. she would be making a LOT more fuss if a toe was broken, right?

Re: limping
If she appears to be in pain then I would advize a quick trip to see the vet to put your mind at rest.

Re: limping
Moo had a limp not so long back, the problem with going to the vet is they will only give an anti-inflamatory and say keep her off it. Try keeping walks down to a minimum for a bit, and see how she is in a few days.

Re: limping
Even if a toe was broken there's very little they'll do. Mostly they'll tell you to restrict exercise & give you anti inflams. You can't plaster a toe!
When was her toe stepped on?

Re: limping
If she isn't in pain and there is no swelling or discomfort I'd say keep doing what you are doing as well as avoiding high impact activities.

Re: limping
I had this with Molly, I stood on her paw and the next day she was limping. I kept her in her crate more or less for a week and gave her arnica every day. She was fine after a week then I gradually built her exercise back up.

Re: limping
thanks all! Caryll, it was stepped on nearly two weeks ago now, it will be two weeks Sunday.
She seems to get around just fine when she is up and about and wants to play and all that. Even on walks, no problem. Just standing up after resting for a while seems to require a lot of stretching and then she hobbles a bit. I just don't want it to be some weird joint development issue that we're missing and not doing something about in time, but I'm sure it will sort itself out. We have been reducing frequency and length of walkies, as she's still eager to go out.
OK, so I'll not worry so much and hope it works itself out.
Can she have a human anti-inflammatory like a little bit of ibuprofen or something?

Re: limping
She might have just tweaked a muscle. If that's the case then short lead walks for a week will probably shift it.
I wouldn't give ibuprofen without a vet's say so. If you want you could give her half an aspirin twicw a day which would help with any discomfort.
