puppy weight
Hi all. Ive jus got a new puppy as a companion for bow. Tarw has been here a few days, he is almost 12 weeks old. Does anyone have a pup about that age and their weights? Im worried that hes malnourished.
I also cannot remember being as demanding as tarw when she was a pup x.

Re: puppy weight
What does he weigh? I think Darcy was around 8k at 16 weeks. What does your vet think?

Re: puppy weight
He weighs 2.8kg. I keep comparing him with bow - though i cant remember weights. I just compare pictures.
Im jus annoyed as when we went to see him at 7 weeks he was really really chunky. Then when we picked him up hes only skin and bone, im quite annoyed (not at tarw cuz i can build him up) but its as if the breeder agreed to hold onto him for me but didnt look after him properly.
Judging by ur pjc darcy looks awesome :-)
when i took him to vet yest she said that he is very small so she would like to see hin again in 2 weeks to check his progress.

Re: puppy weight
Have you got any photos?
I think at about 7 weeks when Bane had his first weigh in he was 3.4kgs and that was underweight for him then! At 12 weeks he must have been about 7 or 8kgs. After we got him on some better food and he hit 8 weeks, he was gaining just over 1kg a week!
But Bane is quite long legged so Tarw might be smaller

Im hoping when we go bk to vets in 2 weeks he will b close to 4.5kg. But hes already loved by all and i dont kniw what my rights are to say about the poor condition he was in.

Re: puppy weight
He does look little Hun, are you feeding him 4 times a day? We did 6am, 10am, 2pm, 6pm until she started sleeping in a little then we did 8am, 12am, 4pm, 8pm what are you feeding him?

Re: puppy weight
Hes tiny not little but 4 weeks ago he was a chunky boy. As 4 weeks ago is when we put most of the money down and had the kc papers signed etc. Then on collection he was half the size. (We also saw him at 3weeks and 5 weeks)Im hoping now that he is in a home where he does not hav to compete for food. He is having complete food 4 times a day and also treats when he does something good. Hes got a feisty appetite and is extremely playful - not to mention teething. At this moment any suggestions r greatly apprecjated on feeding as i didnt hav this concern with bow.

Re: puppy weight
He does look tiny in the photo! His little skinny legs! Very cute though!
I know what you mean, when we went to see Bane we fell in love, there was no way we were leaving without him, and then things kind of seemed to unravel in our minds about the people we got him from. By the time we had it all figured out the rest of the pups had probably gone and there wouldn't have been much point in telling anyone about it. I just hope the rest of his brothers got good homes quick cos I'd hate to think what they'd look like another week or two with being with their breeders!
Bane was on 4 meals a day to start with...7am, 12pm, 4pm and 8pm was it? As long as you have some decent dry food for him I'm sure he'll pile on the pounds again It's good he has an appetite as you will have no problem getting it into him!
