puppy weight.
Hi,
I have an 8 week old Staffy pup. I bought him from an unregistered breeder. I normally wouldnt think of doing that but when we saw him we fell in love. We viewed the mum and she was a good natured and healthy looking dog, the father we did not see.
We are now thinking maybe our 'pure breed' staffy is now actually across maybe with amstaff. The reason being at 8 weeks old he is 7kgs (not fat) he eats 2 decent meals a day and 2 little ones. Every one that see's him says he is massive for his age. Is he big for his age.?
Size is not an issue he looks tough. I just want 2 know if it is possible for 'pure breed' staffs to be that weight at 8 weeks?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Re: puppy weight.
Hi & welcome.
It isn't impossible for a pup to be that weight, but it is unusual. Looks gorgeous from your avatar though!
Of course, even if he isn't full staff, it might not be an AmStaff he's crossed with.

Re: puppy weight.
Thanks to everyone that posted their pup weights..
I spoke to the breeder and he assured me it was 100% pure staffy and not crossed. But he also stated the dad was a 30-35kg (70ish pound) pure staffy thats why he is a big pup. I would have to see it to believe it though.. Then i prob still wouldnt believe its pure..

Re: puppy weight.
I'd say a 30kg+ Stafford would be crossed somewhere along the line! The breed standard is 13-17kg, just my opinion though! He looks like a gorgeous wee pup either way

No, that isn't a pure staff! Many of them are over the Standard weight, but that's nearly twice the norm! There's something else in the background there!
