puppy weight
Hi just curious if anyone can remember the weights of their dogs at 13weeks? vet says Kodi is a hefty boy he weighed 15.8lb yesterday (at 13weeks, 14 2moz) does this seem heavy to you? hes solid but personally i'd say he looks slightly underweight n a bit ribby, hes just gone onto Pero puppy mixed with a spoonful of nature diet for taste as hes not a greedy boy and 99.9% leaves 1/3 of his meals (hes on 4)

Re: puppy weight
Moo was older when I got her and I have no idea of the weight of my first, long time ago. TBH I wouldn't bother comparing as they all grow and develop differently. Personally I would feed 3 meals a day (I know people disagree), I think Kodi looks great Xx

Re: puppy weight
Thanks Jane, Im not worried if he is a bit heavy (like me heavy boned lol) just Im worried hes not getting enough food cos of him leaving most meals, I'll try 3 meals and see if hes more interested in eating them

Re: puppy weight
At 13 weeks I would probably still be feeding 4 meals, but not for much longer. By 4 months I'd have cut down to three & then at 6 months or so down to two for life. If you prefer to give him 4 meals, that's fine as long as he's eating it all. If not, then he could be trying to regulate the meals himself so you could go along with that.
Don't get hung up on weight. It's very deceptive. Muscle weighs a lot, and even a 3 month old pup can have a fair bit of muscle! If he looks right to you, then he is right!

Re: puppy weight
off the top of my head, at 13/14 weeks, zeus was around 6.5/7kg. when i used to feed him 4 meals a day, he wouldnt eat all of them and wasnt pretty interested in his food. as soon as i moved to three meals a day (8am, 2pm, 8pm), he ate all of it and have had no problems since!

Re: puppy weight
At that age I wouldn't worry too much about weight. They all grow differently and will go through growth spurts

Re: puppy weight
13 weeks (last week) he was 6.3kg. Going off his parents he will be a 15 inch dog.

Re: puppy weight
Charlie was weighed yesterday and is spot on 9kg (19.8 lbs) at 15 weeks, he definately isn't fat, I have been raw feeding him and he gets 3 meals a day as that is all he wants to eat, but the recent heat did put him off his meals a bit so I had been a bit worried.

Re: puppy weight
i was wondering too about size/weight, not because Jelly looks fat - she is quite sleak and trim But we thought staffies were medium sized dogs, maybe 15 kg for a female and it looks like she will be much bigger than that. we'll love her no matter what of course, but wow, big girl! she's nearly 17 weeks - weighs about 10 kg. very long and tall.

Re: puppy weight
Bitches should be from 11 - 15.4 kilos, but many are a bit bigger than that. At 17 weeks, it's hard to say what her eventual weight will be as they all go through strange growth spurts!
Whatever she ends up as, I'm sure she'll still look as gorgeous as she does now!

Callie was 15 pounds 2 weeks ago at14 weeks. She looks good to me, not too skinny or fat. They do call her the little tank at doggy day care though

Re: puppy weight
all dogs are different as are people my 4 year old weighs 19 to 21 kilos always between that weight she's very trim but very solid at the chest shoulder area big mass of muscle and my 8 month old is 13 kilos again not fat by any means she's never had puppy fat as such and both fed on a raw diet carefully weighed into 2 meals, there's no way either of them could lose weight to fall into the " kc recommended" weight bracket either.

Re: puppy weight
Beau was weighed last week at 10 weeks old and was weighing 4.2kg, im guessing that is close to 10lbs - she was the smallest of the litter and the vet assured me that she is a good weight!! eek!!

Re: puppy weight
My 12 wk old puppy Male is 5.6kg, he's put on 2 kg in 2 wks which is really good cause hd was grossly underweight when we bought him home.
If anything Tank has zero fat but looking very toned with nice definition, despite being a piglet lol.
My 13mth old bitch Diesel is 19.5kg. Well over standard but shes sleek and looks great so being over standard is fine by me.
Each one is different and I'm confident my pup Tank will live upto his name lol !

Re: puppy weight
Just an observation, I think the blue colored staffs are usually bigger? Does anyone think so? I hope I'm not hijacking the thread, but its somewhat related.

Re: puppy weight
I don't think so - certainly size & colour aren't related. The colour can be deceptive, though (same as white) and a blue dog can look bigger.

Bacchus was 5.6kilos at 9 weeks when he got his first jabs and 7.8 kilos at 11 weeks. Haven't weighed him since but must get round to it. He is a sturdy boy though.
