that's because it might not be stress did they do a health check? calming tablets won't work unless it is definitely stress

I'd go for a full health check, checking her teeth am afraid isn't good enough, i'd want to rule out any health complaints first

Hi Darcy I'm not sure I didn't get to meet her parents as the owner said they didn't have the father and said the mother had been ran down. She was very sad when we got there to see her

Aww poor baby. Is your vet knowledgable on staffy illnesses? It's just a couple of things you've mentioned are similar symptoms to what ruby has. Is there anything else that you can think off that she does? What's she like with excercise? Sorry for all the questions and I don't want to add to your stress and worry x

She loves excersie and playing with her ball, but really dislikes other dogs apart from my other staffy. When we go for walks and she sees other dogs she crys and shakes very bad. She is very fussy with food to will only eat Spencer's deli meat to

I'm so sorry to hear that your little girl is not being her normal happy self, Kirsty.

I would agree that the vet should be the first port of call. Good luck Worried about my dog :-( 3198918699

Does she just shake & pant, or does she stare into space, at nothing? How long does she do it for?

Have there been any unusual disturbances at night that might have frightened her?

Hi Caryll yes she shakes and pants. She doesn't stare into space just jumps on me and starts to cuddle in. It usually goes on for around 20-30mins

It really sounds as though she's associating something with fear. Can you think of anything at all that might have frightened her? Any building work close by, for example, or loud bangs at night?

If a cuddle helps her to calm down, have you thought about trying a thunder shirt?

Where are they sending the tests? As far as I'm aware L2-HGA can only be diagnosed at the AHT.

The vet can send the straight bloods to the AHT, although If it's swabs they have to be requested as there only accept their own.

I'm afraid it isn't something that can be detected with a blood sample analysis. Your vet (or you) would have to get a test kit from the Animal Health Trust and send a cheek swab so that they can analyse the DNA make up...

"Samples submitted should be cheek swabs ( a non-invasive sampling method). Sampling kits are obtainable from the Animal Health Trust webshop www.ahtdnatesting.co.uk/canine_tests. Further information can be obtained by emailing dnatesting@aht.org.uk"
