Going to make Dempsey a flirt pole

There aren't many interactive toys we can get for him. Tug toys are generally too small and don't involve a great deal of movement, so I'm going to make a flirt pole for him! Not a full sized one, as I think that would just be wasted on his lazy backside.

what materials do you use Eleanor , some plastic tube ?? like electrical conduit or something

Does the pole have to be very strong ?? as its not used like a springpole for him to hang off is it just something on the end to chase ??

No, it'll just be something to chase. Might go with a bamboo pole to start with, to make sure he's actually going to play with it before I dish out on something else.

Bit too long for what I have in mind. We already have bamboo canes, so I'm going to make one from one of those first to make sure he actually wants to play with it. Will probably use old denim strips to tie to the end.

I'll consider it, but it all depends on whether or not Dempsey likes it. I have a feeling he'll probably be more interested in the pole, rather than the flirt.

We have a lunge whip with a sock on the end, only 5 mins every couple of days darcy loves it xxx

I'm not sure I'd want to fork out on a lunge whip tbh. Dempsey has a habit of destroying every toy we get him.

The one we've got was under a tenner but I can see it getting chewed to bit if we let her get hers chompers on it

I'll stick with bamboo to start with!

Going to stick his old stuffed ferret toy on the end! It needs to be something more interesting to him than a stick, or he'll end up going for the pole instead. He hasn't been allowed to have his ferret toy since he ripped the sqeaker out as a puppy.

Yay! bet he will love it. mine got broken last night when i attached a squeaky toy as a lure and Marley went nuts at it lol. so going to make a new one this weekend as well.

Couldn't find his ferret, so I used the reindeer Christmas present from last year. (The one with the missing hat and ear, which he swallowed whole and passed a month later!)

He absolutely loves it!  Went insane the moment I started playing with him. He managed to grab hold of the toy once and shook it about for ages, then tried to tear off down the passage with it!  

I'll post pics later, once I can use it outside!
