Frequently crying and whimpering
I have had my little girl for 2 years. I admit Roxy is a little spoilt, I rescued her after she had a tough first 2 years in a former life (but she now has a great life). I only work part time so we do lots of group obedience training sessions and agility, plus daily 121 training to keep her mind stimulated, she has good quality food (burns and raw) and we have a good walk every day - in the house she is allowed on sofas/beds, i always ensure she has clean fleecy blankets, nice beds, we play on her command etc. (I like to give her a good life, I enjoy it and she appreciates it) - the problem is she frequently seems a little down, lethargic and sad. She also cries and whimpers at me a lot (yet does not need feeding, walking, the loo etc). I worry at times that she might be poorly, the vets have said that she is fine. Am I over reacting or do other Staffies cry a lot and at times seem to carry the weight of the world on their shoulders?

Hi Samantha, welcome to the forum, when you get chance pop and say hi
https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/f7-new-member-introductions
You say she gets a good walk everyday? How long? Really she needs atleast 2 45 minute walks, you may find that helps. Also the food, I notice you feed kibble and raw? Is one for breakfast and one for tea? I ask because they digest at different times, so if you feed raw and kibble too close together it could be upsetting her stomach.

Re: Frequently crying and whimpering
I am confident she gets enough exercise with the walks /play/ training, but I do not separate her food so much - I will try this, I notice at times she looks a little bloated (or this could be my imagination) so this could be the cause. I just find I worry about her so much, are Staffies all so vocal? It's like she is trying to tell me something but I don't understand? She is also quite lethargic when not training/playing/walking. She just flops out and sleeps, sighs, grumbles and cries.

Re: Frequently crying and whimpering
Yes staffies are very vocal!! Daisy's like a little pig grunting and groaning all the time And yes she does the flopping out with a big sigh!!
Try separating the food I think it's either 6 or 8 hours gap you need to leave between the two, keep us posted xx
We love pics, if you'd like to post some of Roxy?

Thank you. I have a million pics of Roxy, she is a gorgeous red, I will post some x
I love the sighs, snorts, grumbles etc....it is just the whimpers, neighs (like a horse) and whines that worry me.

Re: Frequently crying and whimpering
Rocky is also very vocal, the grunting and all is normal, but he tends to whimper/cry when he wants attention, we try not to initiate this too much as we don't want him to get used to doing this too much as we only just got him out of it. Sounds likeshe does have a great life after all she went through though! Looking forward to pics!

Re: Frequently crying and whimpering
Hi,
We've only had our staffy a few months and my parner works away for 10 days at a time - when he is home, Theo did a lot of whimpering and whining and we have realised it is just for attention!! We were really worried at first but its just because he wants to play - I think he did it more with my boyf because he plays a bit rougher than i do! It was really hard but we just ignored him, but continued to give him lots of attention/walks and stuff and he has stopped doing it now.
I know its hard to not get worried when they whimper but in Theo's case, it really was him just trying it on.
