pollen allergy?

I had also thought it may have been the pollen, it also coincided with a bout of warm weather. He was still having a bit of a scratch, but nothing major. After being on the park Thursday(start of the good weather), that evening Dillon came out in the same rash and is scratching and nipping drawing blood again. He is, also, scratching behind the ears. Last time he had this sudocream offered no relief. I'm keeping him in til we go the vets on Monday, not too practical as I live in a flat.I've attached a couple of pics, does anyone have any thoughts?

My gosh that looks really sore poor boy. I'm affraid the only thing I would suggest is sudocream until you can get him to the vets but as you said it offered no relief. Maybe antihystemine (spelling) might help to relieve it other wise you'll have to see what the vets advise. Good luck tomorrow and let is know how you get on.

What about some calamine lotion?? That is very soothing for bites and sunburn.. wonder if that might help abit. ?

There is a product called maleseb its really good for irritated skin ive used it for loads of skin problems for the dogs and the horses and its always cleared them up.
You can buy it online for about £10.
Ordinary vaseline a good covering will give protection when you want to take him out.
And for the time being ordinary non perfumed baby powder is good for taking the sting out and stopping the itch but you need to apply regular

Hi Karen. My older stafford has terrible seasonal allergies. We have been to different vets, tried countless medications and not been happy with any of the results. After years of trial and error we find that washing her feet and belly every other day with a soothing oatmeal shampoo helps a little. The only way which we can stop her from itching (and believe me we've tried everything from cortisone to piriton) is 'New Era' they are a homeopathic remedy for people which come in a little tablet. I give them both 3 tablets twice a day, which seems to stop those angry red welts come up like Dillion has. However Skibadee's daughter Brandy is very sensitive and even comes out in hives sometimes. She uses liquid piriton for these (they look very similar to what dillion has). Just thought I would share as for years we had problems and these tablets are a godsend!

Forgot to add the tablets are sugar or sweetner based and dissolve on the tongue, my girls think they are treats and sit for them!

Blue gets something simular but not as bad. I think he's are just because they are in the hot spots, like in the creases of his legs.

Had the grass been cut recently? The sap from fresh mown grass can cause nasty allergies in dogs.

Piriton may help, together with wiping the exposed parts with a damp cloth as soon as you get home, and smoothing vaseline on them before you go out.

Hi, thank you everyone for your advice. By the time it got to Monday it had started to clear up really well. I had been giving him Piriton for a couple of days, maybe that helped. Yes the grass had been recently cut and I saw an article on TV saying that tree pollen is high this time of year. The vet agreed with the pollen allergy theory and gave me some steriods and i 've to go back in a month. Dillon eats anything and everything if he could! When he had the antibiotics, because they were very big he just took them out if my hand (like a treat), but these are smaller I put them in his food. He's been down the woods today and so far no outbreak, fingers crossed!

Kaisers on the anitbiotics at the minute they are huge and he is on the steriods there tiny so we hide them in a piece of meat and give them him and he doesnt even know
