Re: Staffies V other breeds
I've had several breeds but I prefer bullies whether it be a staffy (first choice), APBT, am staff or ABD or mix. I just adore them more than any other
also all my pets past present or future come from the shelter so who the heck knows what they are for sure...hahaha just know they're silly and have big heads

Re: Staffies V other breeds
I'm a big APBT/AmStaff person and will probably have one or two (or ten, hah) in the future. After owning Saxon, I would definitely consider an other SBT! Being a Finn myself, I would also love to own a Finnish dog breed like a Finnish Spitz or a Karelian Bear Dog. The Tamaskan Dog is another very interesting breed. It was created in Finland 10 years ago. They look like wolves, but have no wolf in them, so they are much more manageable then a Wolf-Hybrid (which are way too popular in the US).
My parent's always had labs and while they're great dogs, I don't think I'd want one myself.

My first ever dog was a staff, and now so is my second. I wouldn't want another breed! (apart from maybe Dempsy!)

My family have always had GSDs, my first dog of my own was a GSD + I love them, but it's SBTs forever for me now, I just love them

Re: Staffies V other breeds
I've had Border Collies, GSDs, Belgian Shepherds, Staffy & now a Bull Terrier. Out of all of them, I still have a huge soft spot for GSDs (I recently took on a friend's GSD when she went to Canada, but she took her back when she came back home). But I think I'd only ever have a staff or a bully now.
Their characters are so engaging & challenging at the same time!

I've grown up with diffent breeds of dogs. My brother had a staffy years ago.. and he was the best. Even my dad said if he'd have known what the breed was like years ago he'd have had staffies.
My hubby wasn't keen on getting a staffy but i had my heart set on one.. My hubby has now come round to my way of thinking and loves our barney to bits.

I have had cocker spaniel, dachund (can't spell, my head is still aching and tables don't help) 2 rough collie when i was growing up at home, also had a collie cross (border collie x lurcher) and now a staffy.
But i think staffy is the way to go,slowly followed by rough collies

Re: Staffies V other breeds
i have always loved staffys and many years ago my sister had 2, male and female. she had only had the female a day and she wanted a stick the male had and they fought (she actually won) - i was offered the female and fell in love at first sight. when i decided to get another - 5 years after tessa had passed - it was only ever going to be 1 option for me, another staff. And although woody and tessa couldnt be any different i cant imagine me owning a different breed

Re: Staffies V other breeds
My ideal pack would be a staffy, an english mastiff, a british bulldog, a great dane and an american bulldog. If I could only have 3 it would be a staff, an american bulldog and an english mastiff. if I could only have 2 it would be a staffy and an english mastiff. If I could only have 1, it would be a staffy, without a doubt. Charlie is my first staffy but he won't be my last.

Re: Staffies V other breeds
My parents always had collies or collie crosses and more recently a neopolitan mastiff. I love things about every breed, but Bully breeds are my favourite. Staffords, mastiffs, and dobermans are my favourite breeds but my ex boyfriend had an akita x malamute who was lush. Right now between me and my boyfriend we have 2 staffords and two jack russell crosses.

Re: Staffies V other breeds
I've had a border collie, love their intelligence, then a boxer, loved her personality. Before Lola I had 3 staffies at different times, but never a puppy, Lola is my first puppy.
I would always pick a staffie first, but love english bull terrier's. german shepherds, boston terrier and just recently rather like jack russell's.

Re: Staffies V other breeds
I love staffies!!!!! I had a white Alsation when I was growing up then We had a collie. I wasnt always a fan of staffies my ex brought Taz home one day and that was it. I would have a staffy again maybe not from a pup though lol. I was recently looking at a list of breeds and quite like the look of the Manchester Terrior now I dont like little yappy things but these look cute. If I had to choose it would be:
1. SBT
2. Alsation
3. Alaskin Malmute
4. American Bulldog
5. Manchester Terrior
Thats if I ever get another dog once Ty has gone. I was thinking about this the other day I dont know what I would do when Ty goes dont know if I could have another dog and go through it all again. Suppose I will just have to wait and see.

I wouldn't want any little yappy poodles or any mix with the word "poo" or "doodle" at the end, but may consider a Standard poodle (the 30kg sized ones). They are supposed to be really intelligent and they don't shed. Plus if you don't cut them that poodle way, they actually look pretty cool. There's a guy in my hometown with two of them and they are great dogs.

^^ thats just a lurcher then.
Iv had a Rescue Greyhound (we think he was actually lurcher), and now we have a lurcher and a Staffy.
