Is wood chip safe for dogs?

Hello all

I hope you and doggies are managing to stay cool in this heat .

Do any of you know whether wood chip is ok for dogs? Betsy and I love to spend time at the allotment and I'd like to wood chip the paths, but someone told me they thought there was something in wood chip which can be harmful to dogs. I've done some research and so far it's saying the chip is ok, but no cocoa bean shells.

Do any of you have any experience?

Ohhh im not too sure to be honest, I cant see it being a problem if your pooch just chews it and spits it out but I wouldnt recommend letting her eat it for obvious reasons.

It depends where the wood chip has come from. If it's just from trees that are 'safe' then it's probably ok, but you do need to be sure that there's no cocoa bean shells/wood in it, which means that it shouldn't be from commercially sold chip as they mostly do have it in them. They are not obliged to say so on the bag.
