micro chip before
I bought a 3 year old staffy bitch from a lady saying they were moving house and could not take it with them --she sent me photos of the dog over the past 2 years - on collection I paid the asking price and asked about the dog - not micro chipped no injections record and had had 1 litter of pups , 12 months ago -- I took her to be spayed and injectioned plus micro chipping , only to be told she was already chipped --so the problem I have is why did the person I bought her from not know this -question was she picked up has a stray or stolen ? .and if that is the case if I reregister her could I lose her , if the person who got her chipped makes a claim for her -- cannot sleep for worrying and cannot make contact with the lady I got her from ,any advice please
Re: micro chip before
Oh dear, sorry to hear this. While I'm not able to comment on what would happen, has the vet scanned the chip to get details or make contact wtih the person the chip is registered to?

That is odd.. Personally I would get the vets to scan and contact the number on the chip details. There could be someone searching for her it'll put your mind at rest and if it's a stolen dog then although you may lose her it could save someone a lot of heartache!
Hope it works out x

See if the vets that scanned her can give you the details of which company she is registered with, then contact them and give them your details as you have rehomed her.
May also be an idea to contact Dogs Lost to see if she is on their log, you will need the microchip number to do this though, I think:

Re: micro chip before
Alot of people dont bother keeping the details up to date so I wouldn't worry to much. My ex wife rescued a staff x mastiff that was registered in being in an rspca kennel after its ownder had died. News to the people we got him from and it shocked them too as they had no idea. Poor boy had spent his first few month in a shelter which explains the bar shaped groves worn into his teath... the chip company changed the details with no fuss

Re: micro chip before
yes the vet got me the number and said to get the address changed but it seems so strange for the previous owner no to have know she was already chipped - I will give the company a ring tomorrow
