Fostering a dog ***UPDATE***
Came across a rescue centre on facebook that is 20 minutes from me, and found a male staffy that will be put down by 9/7 if not rescued before then. oh he is absolutely gorgeous and I know that this goes on everyday, its heart breaking, if my circumstances were different I would love to keep him, but I think I might enquire about fostering? Any advice, is this a bad idea? I really want to save him but I just don't know what to do!

Re: Fostering a dog ***UPDATE***
I think its a great idea as long as you have time to supervise 2 dogs and that Rocky gets on with said dog. Its something I would like to do in the future but its not fair now as I am out all day Xx

Re: Fostering a dog ***UPDATE***
I am always pretty busy but mum looks after Rocky when im not around so he is never left alone, and she is happy to look after another, but my main reason for wanting to foster is that if he not collected by Tuesday he will be pts
I might take Rocky there tomorrow and see how it goes!
He is 4 years old and this is his description: VOLLY NOTES
Mr Bumb Wiggler Extraordinaire is so human friendly it's ridiculous. You should see how much he wags that backside not only when you're paying him some attention, but when you're just in his general vicinity. He loves his people so, so much! And he's not too shabby with his neighbours, dogs being walked past or him walking past any dogs. He's just chill
He is polite and respectful of you, adores your smooches and lives to give you hugs. He adores his treats but is not a guts with them - unless you insist! This piggy grunter walks well on lead - he likes to be in front of you but does not pull. Aside from the start of some flea derma on his tail he is in overall good condition. Yet another nice, tan staffy.... he won't finish last will he?

Re: Fostering a dog ***UPDATE***
Ohhh that's a great idea! Thanks Ella I will definitely have to invest in some, Rocky is always running up and down the stairs bringing my shoes....problem is he brings half my shoes down resulting in me carrying them all the way back up haha, and if there is a new staffy in the house they will get up to mischief!

Re: Fostering a dog ***UPDATE***
They really do help!
I have the dog gate, which is just a taller baby gate and they make life so much easier.
But with a new dog, it might help just give each dog so time and space to them selves if you separate with a gate

Re: Fostering a dog ***UPDATE***
He looks and sounds gorgeous - why on earth hasn't anyone snapped him up? I do understand that there must be limits on space, money and resources that rescue centres can give to any one dog, but it is so upsetting to hear that a lovely dog like Wiggle Bum has a time limit set on him.
I am full of admiration for anyone that fosters a dog. I know I couldn't do it. If you can Maria then I shall be full of admiration for you too.
Wishing Wiggle Bum all the best of luck in finding the home he deserves.
((((Hugs))))

Re: Fostering a dog ***UPDATE***
Lynda, there are 9 dogs that would have gone tomorrow if no one had fostered/adopted them, i cried when i went through all the pictures.
Now for the bad news, i called this morning and asked about fostering, and they said i had to apply online through their site and the process would take a month, they would have to do checks of the house and the yard and the skills i had to be in care of a dog, and feeding, and so on, so that was out of the question, although im still applying for future fostering opportunities, BUT....when I finally decided I would adopt him as fostering was not possible, they had the dates wrong on all 9 dogs that would be PTS on Tuesday 9/7. it was Monday 8/7. I'm completely and utterly devastated, so heartbroken the fact that these poor dogs have missed a life of happiness. I cried on the phone when she told me this, i guess it just wasn't meant to be. But here is to future fostering, ive applied online and will start the process next week. Wish me luck!

Re: Fostering a dog ***UPDATE***
That's terrible Maria, I'm so sad for you and the other dogs.
I know they've got to be careful who dogs go to, but jeez all that red tape when a dog's life is at stake!
RIP Wiggle Bum

Thanks everyone
Lynda, I know it is a bit much, but I understand why, especially that there are so many irresponsible owners out there! But it is sad that these dogs lives are ending so quickly
Thanks Kita, good luck to you too!
