Re: giving blood tomoz
Nice one. Yeah I did that.
I have never had sex for money but I did once for FA cup final tickets. Does that count?

Re: giving blood tomoz
Im planning on doing it a few times a year.
About time I put something back into society
When I phoned up they asked if I had registered, I said yeah about an hour ago online. Asked for my DOB and full name and then he said yeah it's come up do you live in Newcastle? errr No lol
When I asked him someone with the same full name and date of birth living in Newcastle. How mad is that.
Strangest part is my middle name is Debbie

Re: giving blood tomoz
I clicked on something on there and it said something about mad cow disease and CJD has been thought to of been passed through blood transfusions around 1980
Do they send the card in the post that you get or do you get it on the day?

As per the website. Click last question
http://www.blood.co.uk/giving-blood/faqs/
This step was implemented by all four of the UK Blood Services on 2nd August 2004. It is a further precautionary measure against the possible risk of variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (vCJD) being transmitted by blood and blood products.
vCJD is thought to be the consequence of eating contaminated beef, related to BSE (or mad cow disease) in UK cattle after 1980. Fortunately, vCJD is very rare. But, there is evidence that vCJD may be transmitted from an infected blood donor to the patient., via transfusion.

Re: giving blood tomoz
Are you on the British Bone Marrow Registry Steve?
Was thinking of doing that as well when I go to give blood. They take a bit extra and send the extra bit off for testing which they put your details in the computer ready for matching with someone who needs bone marrow

Re: giving blood tomoz
Yeah meant to be ill for about 5 days with it. But what's 5 days if your giving some child who hasn't had a crack at life live a long and healthy life.
Only thing is due to some european law you are not allowed to give your details or recieve the details of the person who will get the transplant. Which I think is wrong. I think you should both get the choice. I would like to know if it worked and if they were alright.

Re: giving blood tomoz
They test it in the test tube first which is a stricter test. The blood should sink and mine floated. Then they take a blood sample same as they do for a donar but obviously allot less. They then put that into a machine which gives a more accurate reading. 135 required and I had 134. My levels are fine but I will lose some giving the donar and 135 is the cut off point. So next time I'm gonna have 5 dinners of meat, beans, eggs and nuts before I go

Re: giving blood tomoz
<<== your new doctor mrblu, you need to eat food with icon them them like speiach and tuna once a day
Re: giving blood tomoz
Give me a leaflet with a list of foods that are high in iron and it's all the foods I crave and eat all the time. But I did learn something. In order for your body to absorb the iron the best thing you can do is have pure orange juice with your meal. A cup of tea however stops the body from absorbing the iron
