Sudden Sickness
We've been feeding raw for about 3/4 weeks now & Herbie has been brilliant no problems at all, we tried him with the raw fish option of the food we get & he nibbled at it, this afternoon he's come over all unnecessary & being sick/sicking bile up, dribbling & just not himself. His nose is cold & wet, his gums are salmon pink. He's got fresh water. Do I offer him any sort of food later on? Starve him tonight? Take to vets? Keep an eye on him? Can dogs get food poisoning? all tips & advice to perk him up :0( xx

Re: Sudden Sickness
He might not agree with fish. Some can't eat chicken etc
Tonight I would offer some scrambled eggs maybe. Hope he feels better soon

Re: Sudden Sickness
Do you make scrambled egg for dogs with milk? Or just eggs? He's never had egg so would it be ok to give if he's feeling poorly? Xx

Re: Sudden Sickness
Just eggs, as milk may make the problem worse. Dogs are usually fine with eggs.
Could be that he has an intolerance to fish. He may also have been ill before then, which may also explain why he only nibbled at it. There could be a number of reasons, but you should avoid introducing any new food for 24 hours after he's feeling better.

Re: Sudden Sickness
I think he nibbled at his breakfast as he has never had the raw fish so was not sure on it as he's been fine all day up until about 2hrs ago, he's stopped being sick & dribbling & is just looking all sorry for himself & giving me sad eyes :0( I will try him with a small amount of scrambled egg, thank you for your advices xxx

Re: Sudden Sickness
if your feeding raw you go back to chicken only in the case of sickness, it's the blandest protein for them to digest

Re: Sudden Sickness
Thank you all, Herbie seems to be much better, I did some scrambled eggs for him & he sniffed, nibbled & ignored it so I took it away after 20 mins then tried again an hr or so later & he munched his way through it, he is a bit of a fussy eater he's not to keen on chicken raw or cooked, he likes minced rabbit, tripe & beef, loves pasta & some veg xxx
