Update on our rescue dog.
Good evening all,
Following on frm my earlier threads, we finally got our dog straight from the local pound on Tuesday evening. Originally called Rosie, we renamed her Sophie. We now believe she is a collie cross, possibly with some GSD in her judging by her markings and mannerisms. Our vet says she is just over a year old and in good health but thin.
She is totally untrained in anyway shape or form ( as we found out after going to bed and she unleashed her bowels with full force in the middle of the bedroom carpet!!! ) doesn't even know the sit command.
She is however an incredibly bright intelligent girl who learns extremly quickly. After just 36 hours, she has learnt to sit whern we put her harness on, to toilet in one area of the lawn and "wait" until I tell her to exit the car.
She has NO social skills with other dogs at all, and that is a worry as she is just so boisterous and bounds upto them. If the turn round and snap at her, she will fight with them. Fortunately, I see others have had a similar problem with staffies and there is some really good advice on the training thread - thank you.
But after all of that, she is one of the sweetest, and submissive dogs I have had the pleasure of owning. She just loves company - though we will have to work on the jealousy streak she shows signs of. So we have an awful lot of work to do with her, but I'm hoping that being so bright we can quickly overcome the past year of bad habits.
I'll post some pics in the next day or so.
take care all

Re: Update on our rescue dog.
She sounds like Rupert when I got him. Feral. Pictures...?
Are you sure she's actually jealous? My bf told me that Rupert was jealous of him and it turned out it was the other way around - long story... but ... sorry if i have already asked you this but how did you choose Sophie?
I'm excited for all of you.
