Poorly staff :(
Hi all,
I'm new here but need some advice....
I have been away for a few days & my dog was left with my mother.
Rascal (my dog) is 2 & a half & a healthy sized staff however, whilst away I have been told Rascal was ill, he has been sick for the past 3 days (my mom is unable to tale him to the vets as she is disabled) but he will still sit & cry for his food and will still drink his water, also he is still playful etc.
The worst part is there looked to be tints of blood / blood staining in his vomit. He will be going to the vets tomorrow hopefully!! As I'm sure this serious. He has a ear infection but he has ear drops for this - not sure if this could be related?
To be honest I'm looking for advice or maybe something that has happened similar with your dog?
Thanks x

Re: Poorly staff :(
Hi & welcome.
You know it could be seperation anxiety? If he's being sick he could be 'scouring' his stomach & that could cause a small amount of blood. Normally I'd say as long as he's still ok in himself & he's drinking properly then it isn't too much to worry about.
However, you're doing the right thing taking him to the vets just in case. It'll put your mind at ease!

I agree it could be anxiety. Could he also have eaten anything at mums?

Re: Poorly staff :(
I'd be inclined to agree with Caryll and Hayley, in that it could be down to separation anxiety. If he was vomiting for 3 days he could have torn a little blood vessel in his throat which would explain the bloody vomit. But if your mum gave him a bone (for example) or anything else scratchy, that might cause it too.
Is he drinking and eating normally now he's back with you, and stopped vomiting?

I would be going to the vet personally for peace of mind. But it very well correct itself now you are home

Poor lad - unfortunately I don't have experience here but make sure he is hydrated and maybe give food little and often perhaps to help calm his tummy until you see the vet... Hope he is a little better ><
