need a new lead
what type of lead do you have, what do you recommend?
I am not sure if I should get one of those retractable leads, an ezy Vario 2 which transforms from a 3 meter to a 6 meter lead, or just a normal lead.
At the moment I have got a normal lead, but it is not strong enough now billy is getting bigger, and I thought a lead that lets him go further woudl be a good idea, for when we are in the park and he cannot be let off.

Re: need a new lead
Hollie has a 5 Metre Flexi extendable lead, it's good but I should have bought the largest, strongest one 'cos as she gets bigger I don't think it will be strong enough to hold her.

Moo has a half eaten flexi lead but she's only ever on lead when we walk to where we are going, otherwise she is always off.

Re: need a new lead
The retractable leads are ok as long as you get the strongest ones & don't expect to have much control!
I use a softex lead for Dempsey - it's very strong, but like a material so it doesn't hurt my hands. It's 8' long.

Re: need a new lead
We've been through various leads with Molly, for the best control, I'd say a normal fabric one (They're a lot easier on the hand if you need to grab it quickly to pull your dog away from something) For more exercise, an extendible lead, like the ones Steve showed are great, but as Caryll said, make sure it is the strongest possibly, and don't expect too much control!
Molly broke an extendible lead at quite a young age, so I'd agree for going for the strongest one possible.

Re: need a new lead
i got that from my local pet shops they are really for large dogs i had that for like 5 years now
Re: need a new lead
If you're going to get an extendable, try to get one with a tape lead all the way through, rather than a cord. Much easier on the hands if you do need to grab it for any reason, and they tend to be a little stronger.

Re: need a new lead
I tried a lunge line but ended up getting all tied up! I wasn't much good at winding it in & letting it go!
Oh, and Dempsey thought it was a huge game & tried to eat it!

Im used to it with using it with the horses but I know were your coming from it drives my hubby mad and he gets all tied up too. I cant afford anything snapping on me and a loose dog could be trouble
