Lead help
Nearly time to take my 10 week old puppy out, can't wait!! She's now used to her collar but when I introduce the lead in the garden/house she goes mental for a while and just sits there and won't budge!! I don't want to start dragging her round or pulling on her lead ??? Whats the best way to go about it?

Re: Lead help
Get her to wear it around the house so she gets used to just dragging it around. Bet you can't wait to get her out

Re: Lead help
Same as Janey says. Just let her drag it around the house & garden for a while & keep calling her to you & giving her a treat to take her mind off it.
Once she'll accept it, you can then pick the lead up but let her lead you around. After that you can gently give her a little tug to get her to follow you........with plenty of treats & silly voices & praise!

Re: Lead help
Maybe start off tying a length of string to her collar for a while until she is used to that, then try attaching a light weight lead and let her just drag that around.
Have you considered a harness?

Re: Lead help
Agree with the advise above. Let her wear it inside for a bit and than just pick it up when she starts walking. Treats are also excellent. Hold one in your fist and let her sniff and than start walking and she's very likely to follow.
