Travel sickness

Does your dog suffer from travel sickness or stress.
Ella is a poor passenger, we took her to France last year and she never settled, just sat and panted all the way (19 hours)
She is the same on short trips and just wont settle. She is no stranger to the car, has no problem getting in. We keep it cool for her and avoid jerking and harsh breaking etc.
Are there any good travel sickness tablets on the market? and do you have any advice on the subject.
Were off to France again this year and would like her to be more comfortable on the trip.

Couldn't tell you if there's any good tablets but I was told to try short journeys, and gradually going further and longer. Also ginger is good for travel sickness!

I've heard of ginger too, haven't tried it but I believe it's good for settling the stomach

There was a previous post about this and someone mentioned some ginger dog biscuits or chews but I can't remember what they were called. I've just googled dog travel sickness and you can get doggy pills on Amazon

I might get some for Lola as she is terribly travel sick

Darcy doesn't love it but travels ok, she abides it as a means to an end :-)
Hopefully poor Ella settles soon.

Thanks everyone. will have a look at the Ginger see if that works. She does'nt get sick as such she just seems very uncomfortable and wont settle and panting for that amount of time can't be good for her,

Tony , I have the same problem with Tilly and she has always been like it since a pup but as a pup she could be sick as well but I always put it down to the stress. As you say pant pant pant . She is a little more settled now since Tommy came along as he is just so brave . 14 weeks old he did Cornwall in the car as if it was a ride to the shops.
Tilly does travel much better if someone is in the car with her on the backseat for a fuss but she will still pant intermittently. She wouldn't take water either so we bought syringes (like you use with kids for calpol) and then last year some cheap squishy baby bottles so you can squeeze the water down her , they worked very well too

Roxy gets very stressed in a car, she is a rescue dog and I assumed she wasn't used to travel (especially the circumstance that she came from) however reading this it would seem quite common. She is slightly better with someone in the back of the car with her, but not much.
I was thinking of going to the vets to see if there was anything they could prescribe for her as we usually go camping in the summer and I want her to enjoy the journey and not get stressed, but I might have a look at that link on Amazon and give those a go.

The tablets on Amazon have ginger and valerian in, the ginger for the sickness and valerian for calming.

He was sick almost everytime we took him in the car even if it was 10 mins down the road, we found ginger travel sickness treats at pets at home. If i remember correctly, you give your pooch a few before the journey giving the stomach time to settle. Theyre fantastic, definitely roccomend them

They come in a resealable pack so they wont be stale the next time you need them. Bonus!

Sounds like Ginger is the way forward and i like the syringe idea too, Will have a few trips out over the next couple of weeks and see how she gets on. Thanks all
