Travel sickness and crying in car
I usually drive every morning to our spot at the dog fields where Lola happily play for about an hour an a half.
My question is two fold...firstly, we have always done the run in the morning in the car, but despite everything Lola just won't stop crying in the car, any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Secondly, Lola is always sick in the car if we go further than the dog fields. Well yesterday I had to take my daughter and her oh to Alton Towers so had a day out with Lola at Dovedale, bueatiful day and made sure she went in the river to cool down, she thouroughly enjoyed it. We actually got about 60 miles before she threw up everything, luckily I had done the drop off so she wasn't sick on anyone. So pulled over and sorted it all out. We went walking and she had gotten hold of some sheep poo, whcih let me tell you stinks awful. Then on the way back, yep, she threw up again, and it stunk of sheep poo, which we had to drive back smelling, it was just awful.
So any suggestions on how to get her to stop being car sick. Is there anything the vet could pescribe, as I want to take her camping with me to North Wales and all over the place really.

Also Lola is never restrained in the car, she is either on the back seat or the passenger seat and just tries to stand or sit wherever we go. Would restraining her in the car help?

Re: Travel sickness and crying in car
I always use a back seat cover on the the back seat, one of these:

The travel crate then goes on back seat and Hollie travels snuggled up in one of my old dressing gowns safely inside.
I always open both back windows just a little so she has constant fresh air.

Re: Travel sickness and crying in car
Jasmine used to be sick in the car as well but now if I know we are going out in advance I make sure she doesn't eat for atleast a couple of hours before and that we're in my car (other half's car is alot more modded than mine and would shake her to bits - even makes me feel ill sometimes, lol) or if we're going out first thing, I'll take her breakfast with us and she eats it at the other end or if we're not out for long, when we get back and that seems to have worked.
I've never had to worry about her crying but she wouldn't be able to get a whimper in even if she wanted to with me constantly chatting away to her, lol

Re: Travel sickness and crying in car
don't know if it will help or work, but I read that ginger is very good for travel sickness... and sometimes just eating a ginger biscuit can help. But ginger is an acquired taste so not sure if a doggie would eat it.
