Vets again probably
So, just when I get over 1 issue with Tank - he starts doing a wierd jaw quivering and lip smacking thing. Been doing it for a week or so but I figured it was just a quirky Tank thing !
Anyway, today he's been asleep almost all day, and like a lap dog, he literally curled on my lap and fell asleep. He's not been walked at all today as I'm currently sick too !
This evening he's doing the jaw chattering again so I looked in his mouth and omg! A rather large piece of wood stuck in his gum. The poor sod. So I managed to get it out - it stank so obviously been in there a while.
It's left a hole in his gum next to one of his canine teeth and bled a bit, I'm hoping I got it all out, my poor baby
I'm gonna get hubby to hold him later so I can have another look - the vet is shut now till Monday.
Will be monitoring him closely, and I'm gonna tell hubby to not leave bits of offcut wood in the garden !

Wow, poor Tank hopefully it's all out and he'll be OK now. They know how to keep us on our toes, don't they? Silly boy, hope you're giving him lots of hugs

Damn, just had another look and still a bit stuck in the hole, his lover canine kinda fits in the hole and it's pushing it up. We just tried wrapping him in a towel to try n get it out but he's too wriggly poor sod.

Re: Vets again probably
the lip smacking, quivering mouth and frothing harvey does ALL the time but he does it when he;s smelt something good and is very very normal.
However the wood has probably irritated it

Awww poor Tank, hope the wood didn't do too much damage. Do you not have another vet near you where you pop him along too ??

Re: Vets again probably
Poor Tank. If you could wash his mouth out with salty water (easier said than done I know) it might help to control things until Monday. In your place, I'd keep trying to wash his mouth out with salty water, unless his gums get red and swollen.
There are 24/7 vets around, but they are fantastically expensive, as I know to my cost.

He will need antibiotics so you will have to get him to a vet tonight or tomorrow.

Re: Vets again probably
All sorted. What it is, he's getting debris stuck in the gum 'holes' where his lower canines sit into the top jaw if that makes scence ?
The vet was able to remove the debris with a small instrument thing and all is well. Antibiotics for a week as one was inflamed. I need to basically clean his teeth daily now to remove the debris from his gums otherwise it will build up and his lower canines will compact the debris. What a mare !

Re: Vets again probably
Tried earlier just with the brush, he's so cute ! I'm holding his mouth open with one hand and his Tongue is all over the place lol but he didn't struggle. I'm sure he will get used to the routine.
