Vets again!
I had an email from my vets last week stating Katy's annual vaccination is due I would have waited but she's been suffering with her bad leg again this week. We went back in October as it was bad & was prescribed something stronger than Metacam!
This past week she has been really lame after resting but it doesn't seem the same as when her knee is sore When we go out she starts off stiff then seems fine but suffers when she's got in & rested! She's quite happy for me to handle it.
Hopefully it's just a pulled muscle but I hope to find out in the morning

Re: Vets again!
Is it a touch of arthritis do you think?

Re: Vets again!
I have asked them for an x ray as vet thinks it's possible it might be her cruciate ligament but cant tell properly without an x ray. We are booked in for Wednesday morning, hopefully will get an answer then

Oh no, hope it’s nothing too serious for Katy.
But do I read correctly, you have an xray in a week’s time ?

Re: Vets again!
Thanks Nifty, we have our appointment at 9.15 today. Katy can't understand why we haven't had breakfast! Her leg is a lot better this week but she's still limping. I don't think it's the cruciate but I'm not a vet
I'll give an update when we get some answers.

Re: Vets again!
Well I picked up a very drowsy Katy just after 2pm. We had a look at the x rays & she has a bit of Spondylitis in her lower back but vet says that can repair itself. Her knee is looking rough with arthritis though Her cruciate looked liked she had tweaked it but it's ok.
Metacam for the rest of her life plus all the joint meds I already give her.
Other than missing her all morning, the most painful thing was paying for it! When I asked about the price when I booked her in it was about £200 when I asked for the bill it was £ 417!!!!!! Oh we didn't allow for the sedation they say
Licence to print money as they have us over a barrel!

Re: Vets again!
Well, yes it's pricey. But to have her diagnosed & properly treated? Priceless.

Re: Vets again!
Yes I agree Gilly, I wanted to know exactly what we were dealing with. Just annoyed that they didn't give me the correct price when I asked!

Re: Vets again!
Well better to have the right diagnosis with a quack in the price than the opposite ?
Glad that Katy is home and well, and that you know what her weak points are to cover.

Re: Vets again!
You should be able to get Metacam online far cheaper than the vets. You'll need a prescription, but it should still be cheaper in the long run.
