Vets again!

I can't believe I forgot to post this - sorry!

On Tuesday evening last week Dempsey broke his dew claw again. It was really painful & was sticking out at right angles so back to the vets on wednesday.

This time the claw was broken just above the claw sheath so it wasn't simply a matter of clipping the claw off. He had to have anaesthetic & part of the toe removed. He was in quite a bit of pain afterwards, but once the pain killers kicked in it wasn't too bad. Trouble is, they had to put a bandage & dressing on it. "Leave it on for 5 days" they said!

Fat chance, it came off yesterday! Go back to the vets tomorrow to have it checked but it looks ok!

Sounds nasty and keeping a bandage on a dog, any dog......you've got to be kidding right ?

Hope he's doing ok, and the vet gives him the all-clear.

Hope he is doing okay. Those dew claws can be a pain.

We don't know how he did it, he just started yelping! Idiot dog.

The vet told us the bandage was dog-proof; he wouldn't be able to get it off. I told them I'd give it 3 days maximum & he gave me such a sympathetic "You don't know what you're talking about" sort of look.

Ha! Three days later............

He really does get into some scrapes doesnt he?!

Hope his claw heals quickly and when you go back, give them the sympathetic 'you dont know what you're talking about' looks!

poor Dempsey, hope his claw is better soon. I love how the vet thinks there is such a thing as a "dog proof bandage" lol. Dempsey is a beautiful dog

yeah I only just saw this too..hope Dempsey is on the road to recovery... sounds like it would have been painful... what a brave boy !!

Went back to the vets for a check up this afternoon. The claw's healed really well & there's no need to go back. I mentioned that the bandage came off & the vet said "Well, of course, there's always one can do it!"

Now we've got to give him a bath at the weekend cause he had a touch of the runs while he was having his claw done last week & it got all over his back end...couldn't bath him till the claw was ok & although I've been wiping him down he still stinks!

Brave? You gotta be kidding! He yelped like he was dying when he did it, and every time anything so much as brushed against it for 3 days afterwards he yelped again! He's a wimp!

Oh, and the vets says he's "a little heavy". For once, actually, he's right. Dempsey's on a diet!

BTW bull proof bandage is the same as bullet proof glass and shoot it with a bazooka

He's a bully & a wimp!

Today I walked around the park with a lady & her greyhound (rescue bitch who got too old for racing so they stopped feeding her! ), and although both dogs were on lead they enjoyed playing & jumping around each other. Then Dempsey decides he's going to get all dominant & tries mounting her (hilarious cos she's so much taller than him!). Well, she was having none of it & she snarled at him & spun round to face him..........he backed off, with his ears back & his tail down & then stood there looking the other way for 5 mins!

Wimp!
