Bile (sorry)
Woke up this morning to what I though was Harry retching and vomiting but it turned out he just brought up a small amount of frothy white bile in one place in the hallway and then some white stringy egg white bile a little further away.
He seems fine in himself, running around with my slippers in his mouth at the moment but what is worrying me is when I cleaned up the stringy bile it had a tiny speck of red blood in it.
Have just scrambled some eggs for him for his breakfast, and cooking some white fish for later to keep him on light food and several small meals and don't want to be an over reactive mum and rush off to the Vets because the Vets stresses him out very badly. He is asking for food.
The little so and so did eat some other animals poo down the fields yesterday and I couldn't catch him before it disappeared down his throat.
Anything else I should do?

Re: Bile (sorry)
Mine have only ever vomitted bile when they've swallowed a foreign object. It can also sometimes mean their stomach's are empty. How old is Harry?
I'm sure there'll be more health-experienced members a long in a bit to advise you, but if there was a spot of blood, I'd suggest popping to the vet.

Moo throws up bile, usually if she has been eating grass. I'm sure Harry will be fine

Re: Bile (sorry)
He shoul be fine Light meals if he hungry, scrambled eggs (no milk) or boiled chicken & rice is good too.. As long as he is still drinking there is no need to rush to vet just yet Stick with bland food and see how he is over the next 24 hrs, the poop has probably upset his tummy a little but it will pass soon..

It's often a sign that their stomach is too empty (nice!)!
How old is he & when's his last feed at night?

Re: Bile (sorry)
He will be 5 in a couple of months time and I feed him twice a day. First time between 8 and 9am and second time between 5 and 6pm, but he gets lots of other things like bonio and marrow biscuits and the little fish4dog treats and part of my tea but only meat/fish nothing fatty.
Just been out for a walk and he was fine, and his toilet was normal and no more bile.
Will keep an eye on him, but guess I'm nervous because last Feb/March and the previous Feb/March he ended up being kept in the Vet Hospital due to what they call 'dietary indiscretion' and now he is completely freaked out at the Vets.

Re: Bile (sorry)
It may be from eating the poo, I know this will make Rocky sick. Hope he is soon feeling better. ><

Re: Bile (sorry)
It could be the poo, or it could be night starvation (not as bad as it sounds!).
If it happens again, you could try giving him a small amount of food just before bed time.

Thanks everyone, they do like to worry us don't they?
I find it impossible to stop him from scavenging, he is so quick! Bought a dogmatic head collar online this week as I thought that might help and although I'm taking it slowly he's not keen on it and can get it off. Thought the whole idea was that it wouldn't be possible to get it off. But then staffies are clever and very resourceful and nothing is staffieproof.

Yeah we had the same this morning with Otis and its not been the first time he usually gets it if he had eaten something he shouldn't have and he is always ok after it no change to eating habits, energy levels etc so I wouldn't worry as long as he seems normal and is still drinking water etc x

Lola threw up what looked like a bowlful of spit, it was really hard to clean up as it was stretchy

They do many wondrous things! Sometimes it is when they just exercised and drank too much.

Re: Bile (sorry)
yer bringing up bile, is often a sign of an empty stomach, try giving a little snack before bed time, just a little biscuit or something
