Lucy is in for her spaying....
She's been dropped off at the vets. I'm needlessly worried!

Good luck to Lucy and to you Paul. It's nerve wrecking, I had my last female spayed. Was near in tears the whole time.

Re: Lucy is in for her spaying....
She'll be fine! Just a bit dopy & whiney when you pick her up.
The worst bit will be trying to keep her quiet for a few days once the anaesthetic's worn off properly!

Aww I was exactly the same, I was so close to tears when I had to leave Alfie at the vets! Lots of cuddles when she gets home

Any news yet?
Paul H wrote:So do you mean she'll be even more boisterous and noisy for a while after?!
Not at all, but whilst they are healing you have to be careful of the stitches, short lead walks and no bouncing around, no jumping, basically you have to keep them calm, which for a staff isn't easy. Its only for a week or so, it will fly by but its tough

Re: Lucy is in for her spaying....
Ps, you could try the cone off, if she is sleepy she will leave the stitches alone for now as long as you can keep an eye on her it will make her more comfortable. Hugs from us ><

She's ok, a bit sleepy and clumsy. The vet has said to leave the cone on for 10 days!

Moo left her stitches alone and never had to wear it, they are all different though, but when you can keep an eye and she is sleepy definitely have it off Xx

Re: Lucy is in for her spaying....
She's livened up. Walking around bumping into things with her cone seems to be her current interest! She's had some biscuits, a couple of slices of ham and a bit of water. No doubt she'll be trying to chew my hands off again before long...

Re: Lucy is in for her spaying....
Glad she is doing OK, we had a cone for Caley, but never used it, she wasn't bothered at all, although she was glued together, not sure if this makes a difference.

Yeah Lucy is glued, with dissolving stitches inside. The vet said though if she licks it or nibbles at it there's a high chance of infection, and she's kind of got used to the cone now, so it's staying on for the full stretch.
Plus, it looks really funny
