stopping woody chewing the wood

ever since i got woody he seems to have an obsession with chewing wood in the house - i must have known when i named him. i have tried everything. all the deterrent sprays he actively likes the taste of, chillies he enjoyed and making loud noises whenever i caught him doing it would cause him to stop,look at me and carry on. The only thing ive found he doesnt like is vinegar but 1) the house is starting to smell like a chip shop and 2)he goes right back to it once the vinegar has soaked in -he doesnt seem to be associating the bad taste of vinegar with the object. Am i doing something wrong or any other suggestions most welcome as so far i have table with a nicely chewed surround and i have had the windowsills replaced with hard wearing plastic

Have you tried menthol? Rub some vicks vapour rub on the wood & see if that helps. Failing that, oil of cloves might work because it numbs the tongue & mouth & dogs don't like that!

Tys exectly the same I have tried a few sprays and they havnt worked I then resorted to tobasco sauce on his lead but he still chews on it the strange dog lol

I used citronella oil, dogs hate the smell and it has a very powerful smell, diluted its not so bad for us.It wont do any harm and it tastes disgusting some oil i had leaked onto some cotton and when i bit it to break a piece off i was almost sick.
