Stopping laying on me
Hi basically scarlett is coming up to a year old we have had her for around 4 months, her story is that she was passed around from home to home from a young age until we got her and im determined to give her a stable home the problem i have is that whenever i lay in bed she has to come and either lay on my chest or across my chest sometimes she try to lay on my face i just wondered if this was a affecionate thing or a dominance thing she also does it when you are sitting on a couch you can be sitting up right and she will still try and get on your chest she normally puts her back legs on yours her front legs on one of your shoulders and pushes her chest against your face, she did have a few problem when we got her but she is doing really well with her training now and has settled with us perfectly, thanks in advance for any help

Re: Stopping laying on me
Awwww that Staffy affection, Rocky still tries to do this in the evening when I sit on the sofa, I don't think it's a domination thing more affection, others may disagree though.

Re: Stopping laying on me
i rekon it's affection as well .. plus 'security-blanket' maybe ..
'Lady' did it for a while soon after i adopted her from the rescue kennels
then she became less clingy .. or simply prefers legs these days :-) ..
but
if she's stressed out .. scared .. usually from neighbours d.i.y./furniture moving etc
( we live in a vic. terrace house ) .. she will jump on my chest and refuse to budge ..

Re: Stopping laying on me
Our boy Staffie does this ALL the time. He has to be either sitting on you, next to you, across you and get as near to you as he possibly can. If you lie down he lies across your neck or even across your face until you literally have a facefull of fur! We thought it may be a domination thing at first (he's 3 now) but if you say 'no' or look at him straight on and hold his stare he will move off straight away. We also have a bitch so did wonder if it was a 'look they're mine' kinda thing and more of a dominating thing towards her, but we've found he does it even when she's not in the room. So we have put it down to him just being very affectionate, to the point of suffocation! Unless it becomes a problem or your Staffie actually injures someone I'd just enjoy it. You could always try the stare and a firm 'no' and see what happens. I always wonder how we would find another one like him when/if anything happens to him as he is so affectionate.
