Bald patch
I have noticed Alfie has a bald patch on his side, the skin around it looks a bit dry and flaky. Ive only noticed this today? Any ideas what it could be or if theres anything I could put on it?

Re: Bald patch
Is he rubbing on the area or scratching/licking it?
Logan lost some hair where his harness was rubbing but it cleared up after a break.

Could be several things. Does he wear a harness? If so, it could be rubbing. Could he be rubbing it against something in his bed/crate? Have you changed washing powder, or used any cleaners etc that he isn't used to?

Re: Bald patch
If it is handy for you maybe pop him down for the vet to have a look at it. A lot of dogs have this licking problem and it does result in fur thinning etc. Logan still does it from time to time but if I tell him not to he stops. It's a bad habit for him now more than anything. Though at a time he was given some medicine to clear it up. I also had to change his diet to food less grain based as it may have been increasing the problem.

Re: Bald patch
You could try rubbing in some coconut oil to see if it soothes it.
If it doesn't start to clear up withing a week or so, or if it starts to get worse then maybe a trip to the vets for a skin scrape?

Re: Bald patch
A small bald patch which grew in size very slowly, started off just dry but then went a little red. She then got a few more bald patches over time. Advocate drops from the vets I would say even as a preventative measure!

Re: Bald patch
Vets appointment tonight - fingers crossed he doesnt have some sort of massive skin condition! As much as I love the little pup, hes costing me a fortune

Re: Bald patch
Good luck. He will be fine. Possibly an infection or a reaction to some food stuff. They'll know anyway.

Re: Bald patch
Well its just a mild form of something mange, the vet wasnt too concerned and said it should just clear up. He also looked at his bits and said there is a massive improvement since castration, he said to leave it a few more weeks to see if it goes back in fully. Alfie was so good! So happy result!

glad to hear it isn't anything major
I would try rubbing coconut oil into to keep the skin healthy (i personally use that and emu oil but that's expensive) it can work wonders
